Daily Inspiration: Meet Cheyanne Larsen-Glenn

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cheyanne Larsen-Glenn.

Hi Cheyanne, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I’m Cheyanne Larsen-Glenn, the founder of Lars Creative Co., and I’ve had a camera in my life for as long as I can remember. My dad, Jack Larsen, was always behind one, and growing up, he taught me the basics of composition and lighting—but more than that, he showed me how powerful it is to freeze a moment in time before it slips away.

Photography became deeply personal for me in college after taking a film photography class and navigating the loss of my mom. What started as a creative outlet turned into something much bigger—a way to honor memories, emotions, and the in-between moments that matter most. From there, I began photographing friends and family, and honestly, I never looked back.

In 2021, I left my marketing job and went all in on photography. The early days were very much “say yes and figure it out,” which helped me grow fast and find my niche. That’s when I realized weddings were where my heart lived. There’s something incredibly special about being invited into one of the most meaningful days of someone’s life and capturing it in a way that feels real, relaxed, and timeless.

After moving from Texas to Oregon in 2023, Lars Creative Co. grew into a women-owned business offering both photography and content creation. Alongside my best friend, Mykala Ross, we expanded into Lars Social Co., helping small businesses show up online in a way that feels aligned, confident, and human.

At the core of everything I do is connection. I’m big on making people feel comfortable, seen, and fully present—whether that’s a couple on their wedding day or a brand stepping in front of the camera. The best photos come from trust, good energy, and those quiet, unscripted moments you didn’t even realize were happening.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Has it been smooth? Not even a little—and honestly, I think that’s true for anyone running a business they genuinely care about. Resilience gets tested constantly. There are plenty of moments where you think, *I could quit, get a “real” job, and life would be way easier.* And sure, it probably would be—but it wouldn’t be worth it.

One of the biggest challenges came in 2023 when I moved my life and business from Texas to Portland. From the outside, it sounded exciting. In reality, it was terrifying. I had spent years building Lars Creative Co. through word-of-mouth, community, and relationships. Moving meant starting over completely—new city, no network, no built-in client base, and a lot of unknowns.

That first winter was tough. Between the lack of sunlight and the pressure of rebuilding from scratch, there were moments I truly questioned everything. I wasn’t booking the way I wanted to, and there were days I found myself applying for jobs just in case. Confidence was… not exactly at an all-time high.

But resilience doesn’t usually show up in big, dramatic moments—it shows up quietly. I kept taking small steps forward. I went to networking events (even when my introverted side wanted to cancel). I connected with other creatives and wedding vendors. I showed up online, offered mini sessions, and kept putting my work out there even when it felt uncomfortable. Slowly, things started to shift.

One of the biggest lessons from that season was realizing I didn’t have to do it alone. I leaned on my community, fellow creatives, and especially my partner, Tomas, who reminded me why I started in the first place. I also learned to stop chasing *every* opportunity and instead focus on alignment—working with people who truly connected with my style, energy, and approach.

Looking back, that season shaped my business in the best way. It taught me that resilience isn’t about grinding endlessly or pretending things are easy—it’s about showing up, staying open, and trusting the process even when it’s uncomfortable. And now, every time I connect with a client who feels like the perfect fit, I’m reminded that all of those hard moments were doing important work behind the scenes.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
At its core, my work is about storytelling. I’m a wedding photographer and content creator specializing in candid, documentary-style imagery that captures how your day *actually* felt—not just how it looked. I focus on the real moments: the deep breaths, the happy tears, the belly laughs, the quiet glances in between. The kind of photos that bring you right back every time you look at them.

I’m known for creating a relaxed, fun environment where people feel like themselves in front of the camera. Most of my couples tell me they’re nervous about being photographed, and by the end of the day, they’re shocked at how natural it all felt. That’s something I’m incredibly proud of—being a calming presence who knows when to gently guide and when to disappear into the background so the moments can unfold organically.

Stylistically, my work leans earthy, timeless, and documentary-driven, with a balance of candid storytelling and intentional portraits. I have a strong eye for emotion and detail, and I approach every wedding as a once-in-a-lifetime experience, not a checklist. My goal is always to tell the full story of the day—from the big, joyful moments to the quiet ones you didn’t even realize were happening.

What truly sets me apart is the experience I provide. I don’t see myself as just a vendor—I’m there to support, advocate, and genuinely care about my clients. I take the time to build real connections, so on your wedding day it feels like you have a trusted friend by your side who also happens to know exactly when to click the shutter.

I’m also proud of how customizable my offerings are. I use a credit-based pricing system that allows couples to build a photography experience that fits their day, whether that’s an intimate ceremony or a full, all-day celebration. No pressure, no one-size-fits-all packages—just flexibility and intention.

More than anything, I’m proud of the trust my clients place in me. Being invited into one of the most meaningful days of someone’s life is something I’ll never take lightly. My job is to capture it honestly, beautifully, and in a way that feels unmistakably *you*.

We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
Success, to me, looks like balance. It’s being able to run a business I love while still having time for myself, my family, and the people who matter most. It’s waking up excited about my work without feeling burned out by it—and knowing I can show up fully for my clients and my life outside of it.

I don’t measure success purely by income. Of course, sustainability matters, but what truly drives me is the ability to keep doing this work long-term. Capturing memories isn’t something I turn on and off—it’s part of who I am. Paid or not, I’ll always be documenting moments, because storytelling and preserving memories are in my blood.

Success also means building a business that feels aligned. One that allows me to be present, creative, and intentional rather than constantly hustling. If I can continue creating meaningful work, maintain healthy boundaries, and still make time for slow mornings, deep connections, and real life, then I know I’m doing something right.

At the end of the day, success is knowing I’ve built something that supports both my passion and the life I want to live—and that I get to help others hold onto their most meaningful moments along the way.
