Today we’d like to introduce you to Whitney Freya.
Hi Whitney, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My entire career has been devoted to amplifying what I call the creative frequency, the life force energy that moves through all of us and wants to be expressed through color, intuition, creativity, and conscious choice. Long before I used the language of the sacred feminine, I was teaching people to listen inward, to trust their intuition, to create from love rather than fear, and to live life as art rather than obligation at my art center in Nashville, TN. I opened in 1996 and had not painted on a canvas since I was 9! Over time, it became clear that this creative frequency is, in essence, the empowered sacred feminine, receptive, intuitive, relational, embodied, and life-affirming.
I never set out to become an activist or to organize something like The Great Mother March. But as the world grew more polarized and disconnected, this frequency asked me in an unexpected moment to express not only at the canvas, but on the ground, through community, visibility, and embodied action. The Great Mother March emerged as a natural extension of decades of creative and spiritual work, an invitation to bring the sacred feminine into public space in a way that is compassionate, inclusive, and deeply human. In many ways, it feels less like something I created and more like something that has been creating me all along.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Of course it has not been smooth. I do not believe that there is such a thing, one, and certainly not if you are following your heART, going outside the “prescribed lane” and doing anything new and different. There have been plenty of let downs, credit card debt, fears of sharing more of who I am, or when I was called in 2010 to put the spiritual aspect of my “work” on the home page. Funny to think of that now. And I believe that the entrepreneurial path, especially when it is a soul-led mission, is one of PERSONAL GROWTH first, then a business journey. I also dealt with being a woman, a mother and a wife, and being expected to keep all the plates in the air while not allowing my business to infringe in any way on family time. That was a wild tightrope to walk and one that I gratefully hopped off of in 2011!
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
My work as an artist and teacher centers on using painting not as a product-driven pursuit, but as an experiential container. I create spaces where people can directly feel and explore the energetic aspect of creating, the invisible currents that move through inspiration, intuition, emotion, and intention. Rather than teaching people how to make something specific, I guide them into an embodied relationship with the act of creation itself.
Through sacred and intuitive painting practices, participants begin to sense how creativity flows naturally when they relax control, soften judgment, and attune to universal creative currents rather than striving or forcing outcomes. This shifts the old story of creativity, which is rooted in talent, effort, and external validation, into a lived experience of creativity as a life force that moves through everyone. Painting becomes a way to listen, to respond, and to collaborate with something larger than the self. From this place, people not only paint differently, they live differently, with more trust, presence, and alignment with the natural rhythms of creation.
