Hidden Gems: Meet Natalia Grozina of Grozina

Today we’d like to introduce you to Natalia Grozina.

Natalia Grozina

Hi Natalia, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I was born in Russia and spent part of my childhood living inside the Imperial Palace of Catherine the Great. Being surrounded by centuries of beauty and legacy shaped my earliest sense of meaning and value.

As I grew older, my curiosity became global. I traveled extensively across Europe, Mexico, the UAE, and Oman, seeking out ideas, talent, and perspectives that challenge conventional thinking. Those experiences gave me a lens that continues to influence how I approach business, partnerships, and growth.

I graduated from Portland State University with honors in Political Science and French, and began my career in journalism at the New York Post. I later pursued graduate studies at the London School of Economics, but ultimately made the decision to leave London and start House of Impress—an online antique company in Portland. Through a strategic partnership with One Kings Lane —then a pioneering flash-sale e-commerce platform—I sold out of inventory within six months and moved to Miami.

Over time, my work expanded beyond a single company. I’ve received international recognition for humanitarian leadership and sustainability-focused initiatives, including a Corporate Social Responsibility award and a Who’s Who in America listing. I’ve also shared my business experience as a guest on How to Survive and Thrive, hosted by Reebok founder Joe Foster.

Today, I lead Grozina. Over the past several months, I’ve also been spending significant time developing Stay Charged, a business I co-founded with a long-time friend of mine from PSU.

We’ve already completed our first installations at the Pendleton Convention Center and the Volcanic Theatre in Bend, and are currently in discussions with multiple shopping centers that are incorporating our phone charging stations into their redevelopment plans.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
While the path may appear cohesive in hindsight—particularly given that Grozina is a marketing and public relations firm—the reality behind the scenes has been defined by constant risk, uncertainty, and moments of isolation. I’ve been in business for a little over 8 years now, but I think that it is still relatively new and these are just the foundational years that most business owners and entrepreneurs go through in their first 10 years of business.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Grozina is a communications, marketing, and public relations firm with U.S. and global reach. I act as an external extension of internal teams, stepping in on an as-needed basis to provide support to offset internal team workload and capacity demands for organizations such as the University of Utah, University of Utah Health, University of Utah Marketing & Communications, St. Louis Economic Development Partnership, Missoula County, Montana, and the Broward County Board of County Commissioners. I also work with smaller businesses and organizations and provide them with strategic guidance and marketing/communications support.

We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
Every move I’ve made came from recognizing when staying carried more risk than moving forward. Some of the biggest risks in my life look impractical on paper, but no decision came without a willingness to absorb the consequences.
