Exploring Life & Business with Lance Leonnig of Electric Sundown

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lance Leonnig.

Hi Lance, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I moved to town in 2017 and used to sit along the Riverwalk marveling at the old building….. that was back when it had seen better days. Then one day a for sale sign went up and I would think who’s going to save it? After 6 months I realized no nobody was goin to save it so I threw a long shot offer and acquired the property. It was raining more inside than outside the night I got the keys.

I have slowly been remodeling it for the last 7 years paycheck to paycheck and now it’s getting close to being done. I have tried to save this place on the side while working in Portland as an electrician. It’s in Portland where I learned how to build bars and restaurants with some of the best crews around including Chefs Table and The Lightning Bar Collective.

It has been open in various form but has now found its place as wedding venue. As of October 2025 the project became complete as a wedding chapel with a full weekend rental for wedding party.. It will soon open again hopefully as a coffe shop.

I have received grant money from the State of Oregon, City Of Pendleton. Umatilla County and the Round-Up.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has not been a smooth road. The first business was underfunded and almost caused the building to be lost. That was followed by Covid. Then there is me…… I’m like the janitor running the place. Not a good sales person. Ha

The hardest part has been having to support it while working in Portland. I’ve had great crews and we are gearing up for another run here soon.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Electric Sundown specializes in providing a Mid-Century party vibe. We currently offer full weekend rentals for wedding parties. The wedding party gets the building from Friday morning until Sunday afternoon. That way you have a place in town to set up camp.

I am most proud of the vibe that was created. It really feels like you are in the movies here.

So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
That the place stays authentic. It’s that feel that even the young kids relate to when they enter the facility.

Pricing:

  • $4000
  • 2025 Weekend Wedding Package
