Hidden Gems: Meet Kelly Gambino of Melted Brow Bar & Skincare

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kelly Gambino.

Kelly, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I started working as a receptionist at a spa in high school and after seeing how all the Estheticians made their clients feel beautiful, relaxed, and special I knew that’s what I wanted to do when I graduated. I got pregnant at 19 and during my pregnancy I worked at night and went to Esthetic school during the day. I wanted to create a good life for my son no matter my age or obstacles. 5 years late I grew my clientele and opened my first skincare studio. Now 20 years later I’ve owned several successful skincare locations in New Mexico and Oregon.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Covid definitely affected small business owners financially, we had to rebuild and work harder to make up for what we lost. It takes a lot of hard work and dedication to put yourself out there and build a clientele based business. But I’ve been grateful for the steadiness of it. In 2017 my daughter got diagnosed with cancer at just 19mo old and that made me put a stop to business. I don’t get paid time off or assistance being a business owner. But the community and family really helped pull me through it.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Melted is a skincare business where I offer Full Body Waxing, Chemical Peels, Microdermabrasion, & Dermaplaning. I specialize in Brows, which is my largest clientele. I’ve really spent time mastering my craft and bringing the art of brows for each individual client.

I really spend time building relationships with my clients. It’s important to make every client feel heard and special. No one wants to feel like another person just laying on your bed. It’s important to be invested in their story.

I’m proud of the space I’ve been able to create for clients to come into. It’s clean, peaceful, inviting, welcoming, and warm.

How can people work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
I’m always open to any collaborations
