Today we’d like to introduce you to Paulina Cisneros Espinosa.

Hi Paulina, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My journey started when I moved from Mexico to Oregon, chasing better opportunities and a fresh start. Like many immigrants, I took whatever work I could find, and for years I worked in different Chinese restaurants. That experience in the kitchen, combined with recipes I grew up with and shared with my then-partner, eventually gave us the confidence to open our own restaurant, El Mariachi Loco.

What started small quickly grew into something special. The business became well-known along the Oregon Coast, and we expanded into Cannon Beach and Manzanita. It was an exciting time—seeing something we built from the ground up become successful and loved by the community.

But life changed, and after our breakup, I found myself starting over from scratch. I moved to Portland with my son, determined to keep going no matter what. During that time, I sold food—tamales, fruit cups, and more—at construction sites. It was hard work, long days, and a lot of uncertainty, but it taught me resilience and reminded me that I could rebuild again.

Not long after, I was offered a job cleaning vacation rental homes. What I thought would be just another job turned into something I truly loved. I found satisfaction in creating clean, welcoming spaces for others, and within a few months, I decided to take a leap of faith and start my own company—Bright Sunshine Cleaning.

After moving to Seaside, with the support of my son and a lot of determination, I began growing the business step by step. Today, Bright Sunshine Cleaning is something I’m incredibly proud of. It represents not just hard work, but perseverance, growth, and the belief that no matter how many times life resets you, you can always rise again—stronger and brighter than before.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely has not been a smooth road. There have been many challenges along the way, and each one tested me in different ways. Starting over after my previous business, moving to a new city with my son, and rebuilding from nothing was one of the hardest moments of my life. I had to find a way to support us, stay strong, and keep believing that things would get better.

One of the biggest obstacles I faced was the language barrier. Being able to communicate clearly with clients is so important in any business, and in the beginning, that was very difficult for me. Fortunately, my son stepped in and became a huge support system. He helped bridge that gap, and over time he has become such an important part of the business. Through this journey, he’s learned so much about hard work and entrepreneurship, and today he plays a key role as my assistant.

Mental health was another major challenge. Balancing the stress of owning a business while dealing with personal struggles was overwhelming at times. There were moments where it felt like too much, but I stayed focused on my purpose. I was determined to build a better life—not just for myself, but for my son and my family. That motivation kept me going, even on the hardest days.

Financial struggles were also a constant reality. Starting and maintaining a business takes a lot of money, and there were times when it felt like everything I earned was going right back into keeping the business alive. It wasn’t easy, but I trusted the process and kept working hard. Over time, that hard work began to pay off.

Looking back, none of it was easy—but every challenge shaped who I am today. Those struggles taught me resilience, patience, and strength, and they are a big part of the foundation behind Bright Sunshine Cleaning.

We specialize in residential cleaning, post-construction cleaning, and vacation rental cleaning—especially along the Oregon Coast, where attention to detail and consistency are extremely important. Whether it’s maintaining a family home, preparing a newly built space, or ensuring a vacation rental is perfectly ready for the next guest, we take pride in delivering high-quality results every time.

What sets us apart is the level of care and pride we bring into every job. For us, cleaning is not just about appearance—it’s about creating a space that feels fresh, comfortable, and welcoming. Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
My biggest advice for anyone just starting out is to be patient and don’t give up when things get hard—because they will get hard. Building something from nothing takes time, and success doesn’t happen overnight. There were many moments where I felt like I was starting over or not moving fast enough, but consistency and hard work always pay off in the long run.

I would also say don’t be afraid to start small. You don’t need everything to be perfect in the beginning. What matters most is showing up, doing your best work, and building trust with your clients. Your reputation will grow over time, and that’s one of the most valuable things you can have in business.

Something I wish I knew when I started is how important communication and relationships are. Whether it’s clients, coworkers, or supporters, the people around you play a huge role in your success. For me, having my son by my side made a big difference—not just in helping the business grow, but in reminding me why I started in the first place.

Lastly, believe in yourself even when things feel uncertain. There will be stress, challenges, and moments of doubt, but if you stay focused on your goals and keep pushing forward, it will be worth it. Building a business is not easy, but it can change your life and open doors you never imagined.
