Check Out Aaron Plotkin’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Aaron Plotkin.

Hi Aaron, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I started my business as a leather worker in 2015 and sold at pirate festivals I went too. I incorporated 3d printing to make custom leather stamps during the pandemic prior to moving back to Astoria. I then I realized I could make lower cost items that kids could afford and my 3d printing expanded to dominate my business. I opened my store on October 1st, 2024, after several years of events due to needing more space and wanting to sell year-round. I decided I wanted to be the go-to in Astoria for all things 3d printing whether that is education, materials, parts, or fabrication. I was nicknamed Dragon guy by kids at the Sunday Market.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Some struggles, mostly around expanding production during busy periods and lasting through the lean months.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I went to school to be an accountant and run a small bookkeeping business. I have done everything from worked and a mini-golf course, video game tester, managed a storage facility, and was customer/tech support for a gaming console company. As far as the accounting I specialize in cannabis and small business accounting for easy tax returns.

In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
I see the 3d printing industry coming more to every home for at least easy part creation for home repairs.
