Conversations with Steven Christofor

Today we’d like to introduce you to Steven Christofor.

Hi Steven, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Whistleville Market was inspired by a neighborhood improvement effort in Whistleville, a neighborhood in South Norwalk, CT next to the train station. While working with the local business and property owners, Steven Christofor, a local realtor, met a coffee roaster – from there, the idea of Whistleville Market took shape. Whistleville Market is an online store that sells small batch, hand roasted coffee, loose leaf tea, nuts, dry goods and handmade, hand-painted, hand packed Chocopologie Chocolates.

In 2025, Steven opened a retail location in downtown Seaside at 820 Oceanway Street, which continues the community connection and service of Whiteville’s roots.

Whistleville Market Seaside is also home to the “Seaside Bar,” a milk chocolate bar with hazelnuts from St. Paul. All profits from the “Seaside Bar” go to local neighborhood improvement. The “Seaside Bar” was created by renown chocolatier, Fritz Knipschlidt.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Overall, the shop has been well received and has regular customers. The location is slightly off Broadway, so we’re continuing to work on letting people know where we’re located.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m a musician and songwriter and also help with Henry’s Cheap Guitars, which shares the same space as Whistleville Market. We offer special, one on one customer service and have hands on experience and working knowledge of our products.

Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
The Seaside Chamber of Commerce and the Seaside Downtown Development Association have been a big support in letting people know about our shop. Patrick Dinsmore, the owner of Henry’s Cheap Guitars & Pat’s Guitar workshop has been a friend and working associate and together we’re serving the North Coast music community.
