Hi Pamela, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My journey into bridal started in the 90s when I was shopping for my own wedding gown. At the time, the bridal experience was very different than it is today. I remember visiting bridal shops where there was little to no assistance, struggling to get into large wedding gowns and felt overwhelmed. At the same time, I fell in love with the beauty and elegance of the dresses. Seeing so many stunning gowns sparked a passion in me, and that experience ultimately inspired me to enter the bridal business.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has definitely not been a smooth road. When I entered the bridal industry, I had no experience. Building my knowledge and growing a business, came with challenges.
One of our biggest obstacles was being located in downtown Portland during Covid. It was an incredibly difficult time, and many other small businesses around us were forced to close their doors. With weddings being postponed and constant uncertainty in the industry, we had to adapt quickly while continuing to support our brides through all the changes. That experience reinforced the importance of resilience, adaptability, and building strong relationships with our brides and community.

What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
Over the next 5–10 years, I believe the bridal industry will continue moving toward personalization and experience-driven shopping. Today’s brides are looking for more than just a dress—they want an experience that feels meaningful, memorable, and tailored specifically to them.
We’re also seeing brides place greater value on authenticity, inclusivity, and quality. Designers are expanding size ranges, offering more customization options, and creating gowns that reflect a wider variety of personal styles rather than following traditional bridal “rules.”
Technology will continue to play a larger role in how brides research and shop, but I believe the in-person bridal experience will remain incredibly important. Finding a wedding dress is an emotional and personal moment that can’t be fully replicated online. The boutiques that thrive will be those that combine exceptional service with a highly personalized experience.
At the end of the day, while trends will evolve, helping brides feel confident, beautiful, and celebrated will always be at the heart of the bridal industry.
