Community Highlights: Meet Ryan Anderson of Major Fluke

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ryan Anderson.

Hi Ryan, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I have been working in digital marketing for the past 19 years and have been building my own agency Major Fluke, as of August 2024, so almost 2 years. Had a great start finding people who need SEO and online paid ads help without a large agency overhead. I serve mostly home-service based businesses here in Southern Oregon. I build websites, help with SEO, run Google Ads and Local Service Ads mostly.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Great sotry here is being at the pivot of traditional search as AI search becomes more prominent – using ChatGPT, using Google’s AI Mode in search or Gemini.

Also as I have started my own agency, I have been able to be agile with AI to handle things normally done by a team of people. I find large agencies are trying to pivot large teams to using AI and it’s had it trials and tribulations, but here at Major Fluke it’s been a game-changer.

Struggles now lie in getting the agency grown with actual people who can be AI-ready.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Major Fluke?
Major Fluke is a digital marketing and SEO consultancy built for businesses that want practical strategy, clear reporting, and measurable growth without the agency fluff.

We specialize in SEO, local search, content strategy, technical website optimization, Google Ads, and reporting dashboards. A lot of our work centers around helping service-based businesses show up where their customers are searching, whether that is Google, Google Maps, AI search platforms, or paid ads. We help clients improve their visibility through strong website structure, long-form content, internal linking, schema markup, local SEO, and conversion-focused landing pages.

What we are known for is being hands-on, honest, and very execution-focused. We are not the kind of marketing company that hides behind vague reports or vanity metrics. We like to show clients what was done, why it matters, and how it connects to leads, rankings, traffic, or revenue. Our clients usually come to us because they need someone who understands both the technical side of SEO and the real-world business side of getting more customers.

What sets Major Fluke apart is that we bring a high-level SEO skill set with a small-team, owner-led approach. Clients work directly with someone who is invested in the strategy, not just passing tasks through layers of account managers. We are scrappy, data-driven, and honest about what works, what does not, and what needs time.

Brand-wise, I am most proud that Major Fluke feels approachable while still being serious about results. Our motto is “Work Hard. Let Luck Follow.” That really reflects how we operate. In marketing, people sometimes talk about “getting lucky” with rankings, leads, or growth, but usually that luck comes from doing the right things consistently over time. That is the kind of work we try to bring to every client.

What I would want readers to know is that Major Fluke is built to help businesses grow in a way that is sustainable, transparent, and grounded in strategy. Whether someone needs better local rankings, a stronger website, more qualified traffic, or clearer marketing direction, our goal is to make digital marketing feel less confusing and more connected to actual business outcomes.

How do you think about luck?
Funny you should ask! Luck is literally baked into the name Major Fluke. I have always liked the idea that a “fluke” sounds like luck on the surface, but in reality, most good luck comes from preparation, consistency, and being ready when the right opportunity shows up.

In my life and business, luck has played a role, but usually after a lot of hard work came first. A referral comes in at the right time, a client finds us through search, or a project turns into a long-term relationship—but those moments usually happen because we had already done the work to build trust, improve visibility, and show up consistently.

Bad luck has played a role too. Like any business owner, I have had things not go according to plan: slow seasons, difficult projects, algorithm changes, shifting client needs, and moments where I had to adapt quickly. But those challenges have helped shape how Major Fluke operates. We try to be flexible, honest, and focused on what we can control.

That is where our motto comes from: “Work Hard. Let Luck Follow.” To me, luck is not the whole strategy. It is what happens when hard work, timing, and opportunity finally meet.
