Today we’d like to introduce you to Mike Meacham.
Hi Mike , can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I started at a young age working as a wash boy cleaning cars for my father-in-law (origanlly Art’s Service Inc). I worked my way up over the years and gained my CDL license, eventually becoming a heavy wrecker operator and manager for the tow trucks. I worked for 15 years and then bought out the tow trucks with a partner, and we created Art’s Wrecker Service LLC.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
As with all buisness there are have rough times, employee shortages, increase in prices, etc and there have been good times with employees that work hard and trucks up and running smoothly.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
Art’s original was started in 1968, my father-in-law took it over with a partner is 2004 (he had worked form the company since 1992). I started for the company in 2006 and bought out the tow truck with a parnter (Dwaine Lee) in 2021. We have been a very family owned buisess and currently my son works for us, so we hope to keep it that way.
Our company is there when people need it most. Cars are usually the second biggest expense that someone take on. When they are in a accident or break down that is a nerve-racking feeling. I train my guys to show up caring and with the understanding that we are helping people that are having a much worse day than we are. I also built this company with transparency and honest. In small towns/area it is important that a person’s word and hand shake still mean something.
I feel that being home grown, family owned, and honest with our customer this sets us a part from other Wrecker companies in our area.
So, before we go, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you? How can they support you?
Great way to help us out is by giving up a call if you need help, most insurance cover the cost and we care contracted with several, along with other road side service (such as AAA). We can do small atv, to large semi truck and trailers. No job is too big or too small. Leaving a great review or sending us pictures that we can use are also great ways to help. We also support our local schools, are involved with the Ontario Volunteer Fire Deparment, and Malhear County Sheiffs, and many more local agents.
