Today we’d like to introduce you to Casey Keith.
Hi Casey, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My photography journey began 18 years ago with a simple desire to capture the people I loved most—my own children, family, and friends. What started as a hobby quickly became a passion I couldn’t ignore. I began photographing clients out of my home, even transforming my kitchen into a small studio with lights and backdrops.
As my business grew, I took a leap and turned my passion into a career. I obtained my business license, opened my first commercial studio, and began building a business centered around preserving life’s most meaningful moments.
Over the years, I have continued to grow, learn, and evolve as a photographer. After moving through several studio spaces, I eventually built my dream studio right on my own property—a full-circle moment from where I first started creating images in my home.
Today, I specialize in family, newborn, children’s, and high school senior portraits. While I love every type of session, family photography holds a special place in my heart. As a mom and grandma, I understand how quickly life changes, and I feel honored to capture the connections, milestones, and little moments that families will treasure for generations.
Eighteen years later, I still feel incredibly grateful that I get to call this my career. What started with a camera and a kitchen studio became a business built on passion, relationships, and the privilege of preserving memories that will last a lifetime.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely has not been a smooth road. Building a business from the ground up takes hard work, patience, and a willingness to continually learn and adapt. Over the past 18 years, I’ve had to navigate the challenges of running a business, raising a family, finding my artistic style, and keeping up with an ever-changing industry.
One of my biggest personal challenges was stepping outside of my comfort zone. I have always been a shy person, and becoming a photographer pushed me to connect with people, direct sessions, and put myself out there. In many ways, this career has helped me find my confidence and shaped me into the person I am today.
Every challenge has been part of the journey. Looking back at where I started—with a small studio setup in my kitchen—to now having my own dream studio on my property, I’m incredibly proud of how far I’ve come. It’s been built through perseverance, growth, and a genuine love for capturing people’s stories.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I specialize in portrait photography, including families, newborns, children, and high school seniors. My goal is always to create timeless images that capture genuine connections and personalities, not just smiles for the camera. Every session is unique because every family has its own story, and I love finding ways to reflect that in my work.
I’ve had the privilege of photographing some of life’s most meaningful milestones—from welcoming a newborn baby to celebrating a senior’s graduation and everything in between. Family photography is especially close to my heart because I understand how quickly time passes. Being able to freeze a moment that a family can look back on for generations is something I never take for granted.
What I’m most proud of is the relationships I’ve built with my clients over the years. Many of the families I photograph return year after year, allowing me to document their lives as they grow and change. I’ve photographed newborns who are now graduating high school, and being trusted to capture those milestones is one of the greatest honors of my career.
I believe what sets me apart is the combination of experience, personal connection, and genuine passion I bring to every session. After 18 years, I still get excited every time I pick up my camera. I strive to make every client feel comfortable, valued, and seen, because the best photographs happen when people can simply be themselves.
Beyond creating beautiful images, I want my clients to leave with memories of an enjoyable experience and photographs that become treasured family heirlooms for years to come.
Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
Many people assume photographers are always comfortable being the center of attention, but I’ve always preferred being behind the camera rather than in front of it. I love observing the little moments, connections, and emotions that happen naturally. I think that’s part of what helps me create authentic portraits—I’m always looking for the genuine moments rather than forcing them.
