Meet Tara Kleinberg of Klick & Kapture Photography

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tara Kleinberg.

Hi Tara, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I have been passionate about photography for as long as I can remember, but only as a hobby. I enjoyed nature and landscape photography, and it is still my first love in photography. I started taking game photos of my boy’s baseball games and quickly became the person to do them all throughout their travel sports days. It was then that I realized how much I enjoyed portrait photography even more. Plus, my friends on the teams and husband were pushing me to take the leap into it professionally. So, I decided to take my passion for Photography and combine them with my 30+ years with a career in finance, business and accounting to create something special. The goal was to offer a service not just for those in a higher income bracket, but to all so that everyone could afford photos.

I love the experience, the people, the details in my shots and can’t imagine my life without it now. I began with a paid wedding for a friend and from that point my business boomed. However, I do not do weddings now as that is not my love or niche I enjoy. I like to think my years in customer service, finance, accounting, marketing, and business have given me an advantage as I remain booked and competitive with very loyal clients. Service and knowing the structure of business is a key element in any successful business.

About a year in, I became so busy my husband said he was going to build me a studio (I thought he was kidding) and so that began and now I have two studios. I could never have imagined in 6 years how successful it would become, nor that I would be doing studio work too. This past year I made the decision to leave my position as the Student Accounts Manager and University Bursar at Linfield University, after 24 years there to focus only on my business and this has proven to be the best decision I have ever made for both professional and personal reasons.

My business name is based on our last name of Kleinberg. I wanted something that would stick and grab attention with honoring the K in our name. My belief and mission is based on the reality that life moves way too fast, and we cannot get all of our special moments on a rewind button, which are often easily forgotten. We can, however, preserve these moments of time by “Kapturing Life’s Moments one Klick at a time.”

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has been a pretty smooth road from a business perspective. However, the struggles were thinking I had time to put it all together and that business would come slowly, but that is not how it happened. I launched during Covid times, but it never slowed me down. Moving as fast as it did while working a full-time job was a definite challenge. There were months I was doing more than 30 sessions and also working full-time M-F. But this is a good problem to have in business. 🙂

Building two studios and trying to adjust at home was also a challenge but I have one of the best husbands out there who has supported me from the beginning and still remains my biggest strength.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Klick & Kapture Photography?
I am currently the only one operating everything. I do, however, have an editor that does all of my Newborn photography editing to take some of the load from me.

I am known for my Newborn photography, Seniors and anything kids.

What sets me apart? Word on the street is that I am super patient with kids, and nothing really gets to me when it comes to kids. I do not rush my sessions, and my clients have told me on more than one occasion how crucial and important this is to them.

Brand Wise: Keeping pricing less expensive or very competitive is important to me.

What I want readers to know:
I am easy going and low stress so people can feel relaxed. I am very flexible with my services. I believe in finding the “real” moments in your natural elements. My style is natural and vibrant, yet casual, depending on your needs. I am passionate about the details and the emotions behind the lens that I see, and my desire is to give my clients that same joy that I get to see and experience when shooting.

Services: Newborn, Family, Maternity, Cake Smash/Birthday Milestones, Senior & Grad are the ones I do the most. Also, I always do Christmas Mini sessions and a few others like Easter and do at a very low price so that all families can benefit when money is super tight.

Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
My husband is my number one supporter and cheerleader. Building me a custom studio on our property and converting the original garage into my Newborn studio is unmatched! My kids have also stepped up so that Mom can follow her dream.

I could not do this without my clients. Their love and support to me, even during some hard times I have had personally have meant the world to me. Their true loyalty to me and my business has played a huge role in my success.
