Hi Nicole, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I’ve always been creative, but never imagined I’d one day own a flower preservation business. My journey really began with a love for art and creating meaningful pieces that tell a story. When I discovered flower preservation, I realized I could combine my artistic background with helping people preserve some of the most important moments of their lives. What started as learning and experimenting quickly grew through word of mouth, social media, and a passion for continually improving my craft.
Today, Dame Designs Co. creates custom flower preservation pieces in resin, jewelry and pressed floral artwork for clients who want to preserve memories from weddings, memorials, anniversaries, and other special occasions. It’s incredibly rewarding to turn something so fleeting into a piece of art that families can enjoy for generations. Every bouquet has a story, and I feel honored to help preserve those memories.
What began as a creative passion has grown into a business that now serves clients throughout the state and I’m excited to continue expanding while staying true to the personal, handcrafted experience that started it all.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Like many small business owners, I’ve had to wear every hat- from artist and customer service representative to marketer, accountant, photographer, and shipping manager. Learning how to run a business has been just as challenging as mastering the art itself.
One of the biggest challenges is that flower preservation is incredibly time-intensive. Every bouquet is unique, and there isn’t a shortcut to creating something that will last for generations. Balancing quality, deadlines, and growing demand has required a lot of organization and continual learning.
Many people don’t realize flowers don’t always dry the way you’d expect. Every bouquet presents different colors, textures, and preservation challenges, so I’m constantly adapting my techniques to create the best possible outcome for each client. That’s one of the things that keeps the work both challenging and rewarding.
I’ve also learned that building a business isn’t just about creating beautiful work- it’s about helping people find you. Growing my online presence, marketing my business, and building trust with clients have all been learning experiences. Every challenge has pushed me to improve, and I’m proud of how far Dame Designs Co. has come.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
At Dame Designs Co., I specialize in preserving life’s most meaningful moments through custom floral preservation. I create pressed flower artwork, resin keepsakes, and one-of-a-kind heirloom pieces using wedding bouquets, memorial flowers, anniversary bouquets, and other sentimental blooms. My goal is to transform something temporary into artwork that can be treasured for generations.
I think what sets my work apart is my attention to detail and my commitment to treating every bouquet as if it were my own. No two pieces are ever the same because every client’s story is unique. I spend a great deal of time carefully preserving each flower, thoughtfully designing every arrangement, and creating pieces that reflect the beauty and emotion behind the original bouquet.
What I’m most proud of is the trust my clients place in me. They’re handing me something thats irreplaceable, often tied to one of the most important days or memories of their lives. Being able to return that bouquet as a lasting piece of art- and seeing there emotional reactions when they receive it- is the most rewarding part of what I do. Knowing that my work will become a family keepsake for years to come is what inspires me every day.
Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
I believe luck has played a role, but only because I’ve been willing to say yes to opportunities and put in the work behind the scenes. I’ve been fortunate to have incredible clients who trusted me with their most meaningful flowers and then shared their experiences with others. Word-of-mouth referrals have been one of the biggest blessings for my business.
Every mistake has taught me something, whether it was improving my techniques, refining my processes, or learning how to run a business more effectively. Looking back, I don’t think success has come from luck alone-it’s come from persistence, continuous learning, and genuinely caring about every piece I create.
I believe when you create with passion, treat people well, and consistently deliver quality, opportunities have a way of finding you.
