Today we’d like to introduce you to Natalia Price.
Hi Natalia, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I moved to Portland in April 2020, right in the middle of the pandemic. Since I was new to the area, I started looking for ways to stay active, have fun, and meet new people. As a former collegiate track and field athlete, I was excited to discover Willamette Striders Track Club through one of my former teammates, and I began pole vaulting again.
Not long after, I started coaching private pole vault lessons for beginners, which eventually led to becoming one of the coaches at Willamette Striders. As I gained experience, I wanted to grow beyond pole vault coaching, so I introduced new athletic development programs and expanded my coaching to additional track and field events. The response was incredible, and participation continued to grow.
Seeing the demand, I decided to turn my passion into a full-time career. I officially registered my business, built a website, and committed myself to growing the program. Today, my coaching business is thriving, and I’m excited to be entering my fourth year of helping athletes of all ages develop their skills and reach their goals.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
For the most part, the journey has been smooth. I’ve been incredibly fortunate to have Rick Baggett as my mentor. With more than 40 years of coaching experience and decades of running his own business, he has been an invaluable resource. He helped me learn the ins and outs of building a coaching business and has always been there to answer my questions and offer guidance throughout my journey.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Coach Natalia Price (NPAthletics LLC)?
I’ve been an athlete my entire life, and I’ve been fortunate to achieve a great deal of success throughout my athletic career. Along the way, I’ve met incredible people, traveled to amazing places, and had unforgettable experiences. Athletics has also helped shape my character, teaching me discipline, resilience, and the value of hard work. Those experiences have had a lasting impact on my life, and I want my athletes to have the same opportunities—to discover their potential, create lifelong memories, and experience everything that sports can offer.
Today, my business specializes in track and field training, with a primary focus on the jumping events. I love working with young athletes, helping them develop their skills, build confidence, achieve their goals, and, for many, continue their athletic careers at the collegiate level. I also enjoy coaching masters athletes, supporting them as they pursue personal goals, stay active, and accomplish dreams they may have had for years. My goal is to help every athlete reach their full potential, both on and off the track.
Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
What I enjoy most about Oregon City is its friendly and supportive community, beautiful green surroundings, and the variety of parks and outdoor activities it offers. I also appreciate how convenient everything is, with most places just a short drive away.
My least favorite part is the rush hour traffic and the limited public transportation options.
