Today we’d like to introduce you to Neil Richardson.
Hi Neil, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I went back school in 1997 at the age of 55 to attend the University of Oregon where I graduated with a Master Degree in Architecture.in 2001. Upon graduation I worked for CH2MHill for nine years. I obtained my license as an architect in May 2006.. I started my own practice in 2010 and have built a successful on-going business.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Driving over a 100 miles a day for three and one-half years to attend the U of O.
Completing my internship at CH2MHill and passing all nine tests to obtain my license.
Starting a new business from scratch and working to establish an on-going business
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I love designing buildings that bring a smile to my clients. Mostly residential but some commercial. Working with many different types of clients that have varied interests makes the job challenging but also very rewarding when you delight your clients. Most happy when a client says “The best thing we did was hire Neil Richardson as our architect” What sets me apart is approaching each project with no preconceived solution or biases. The design and “style” of a house must meet the clients goals. Known for listening and developing multiple options for consideration by the client
How do you define success?
When clients are happy and glad they chose me to help them realize their dreams
