Hidden Gems: Meet Jack Shelton of The Hoodie Shoppe

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jack Shelton.

Hi Jack, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
How The Hoodie Shoppe Got Started

The Oregon Coast is known for its mild-to-cool weather, especially during the tourist season. Visitors often arrive from warmer climates, ready for the beach, sunshine, and ocean air, only to discover how quickly the temperature can drop when the coastal winds pick up. More often than not, they’ve underdressed or simply didn’t pack for the cooler weather.

That’s where the idea for The Hoodie Shoppe came in.

Hoodies have been a go-to staple for warmth and comfort for years, but we felt there just weren’t enough options to purchase a quality hoodie in Lincoln City. And when it came to stylish, updated graphics that people would actually want to wear, the choices were even more limited.

So, The Hoodie Shoppe was born.

Now in our fifth year, we’ve grown into a shop that caters to locals, local businesses, and visitors from all over. We’ve also noticed something interesting along the way: in many ways, the hoodie has replaced the traditional T-shirt as the souvenir of choice. Today’s visitor wants something that captures a little piece of their Oregon Coast experience—but they also want something stylish, warm, comfortable, and wearable long after their vacation is over.

Along with our signature hoodies, we offer hats, slippers, sunglasses, and 3D postcards—fun, useful items that help people take a little piece of the coast home with them.

So whether you’re a local looking for your next favorite hoodie or a visitor looking for the perfect reminder of your time on the Oregon Coast, welcome to The Hoodie Shoppe…

“Your one-stop hoodie shoppe.”

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
For the most part, our journey with The Hoodie Shoppe has been a pretty smooth ride. We haven’t faced any major struggles or obstacles along the way, but like any business, we’ve learned to evolve and adjust as we go.

Trends change, and so do the colors, styles, and sizes people are looking for. We’ve learned to pay attention to what our guests want and make adjustments along the way. Building our guest base and getting our name out there took some time, but little by little, The Hoodie Shoppe became a familiar stop for both locals and visitors.

The biggest challenge tends to come when the economy slows down and people become more cautious about spending. Those periods can be a little stressful, especially for a seasonal business, but we’ve learned to ride those waves. We stay flexible, keep listening to our guests, and continue doing what we do best.

And so far, we’ve managed to weather those slowdowns and bounce back stronger each time.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
At The Hoodie Shoppe, we specialize in wowing our guests. For us, it’s about more than simply selling a hoodie—it’s about creating an experience.

We believe kindness goes a long way, so we make sure every guest who walks through our door feels welcome. We’ve created a space with super-cool décor, a fun atmosphere, and a style that feels distinctly our own.

And, of course, there are the hoodies. We focus on hip, current designs and comfortable, quality apparel that people actually want to wear long after they leave the Oregon Coast.

Our goal is simple: make people smile, make them feel welcome, and send them home with something they love. That’s what wowing our guests is all about.
