Today we’d like to introduce you to Ruby Le.
Hi Ruby, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
When I was a little girl, I’ll probably never think one day I will do people’s lashes and brows for a living. About 4 years ago I went through a quarter life crisis, my marriage was falling apart, my job at a prestigious bank didn’t fit me anymore, I didn’t know who I was. After my divorce with my college sweetheart in 2022, I packed my suitcase and just traveled to Asia, no plan whatsoever.
There for one year, I randomly took classes in beauty including lashes, cosmetic tattoo, and nails to kill time. After one year focusing on loving myself, I was back in good mental and physical health, so I flew back to the USA with some exceptional skills in lashes and brows, a.k.a lash extensions and cosmetic tattoo.
In April 2023 I opened a small studio inside Sola Salon, straight out of school. My business grew so quickly that within 4 months I expanded business to my 1000 square feet lash and brows salon inside Vancouver Mall, Vancouver Washington.
Within a year of opening, my styling works attracted so much attention. Not only are they elegant, feminine , but also naturally blend with clients’ natural facial features. The kind of work which our husbands or partners will love! My styling is Chanel-vibe inspired with a touch of romance.
At the peak of my career in 2025, I ran into the college sweetheart that I divorced in 2022 and remarried him again in 2025. I decided to move close to his hometown in Beaverton, Oregon to make up for what I did back in 2022. I gave up what I had in Vancouver Washington to build a brand new salon in Beaverton Oregon. Just within 3 months of opening, I established a good client portfolio like in Vancouver and still have clients driving from Vancouver Washington to come see me.
So my quarter life crisis gave me a new fulfilling career, new salon, but same husband.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The road is pretty bumpy from the start. When I was in Asia taking beauty classes, I got scammed so badly that I have in total 12 TEACHERS for my beauty education journey. More often than not , trainers there offered courses and after they get your money for classes, they didn’t want to teach you. Then I have to find a different one until I found good ones. I have 7 teachers for Cosmetic tattoo, 4 for lashes and 2 for nails.
In 2025 after I remarried, as I was building my Ruby Lash and Nail Spa in Beaverton, I chose the wrong salon builder. My builder was aiming for bankruptcy but still took approximately $80,000 of my construction money. When it is time to deliver the salon, half a year in, not much was even done in the salon. I have to learn about building codes myself and work with the city to get my salon done faster. By the time I finished building my salon, it is equivalent to building two salons in term of time and money.
In the period of time, I lost everything my prestigious beauty salon reputation, money, and cool friends over night. But in the darkest day, I’ve learned that only I will manage to save myself so I’ve learned to love and be gentle on myself even more .
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I specialized in Lash, Brows and Cosmetic tattoo. I’m proud that I am so good at what I do, I am able to deliver what clients ask for. What set me apart from others is that whenever clients came to me, they will become “Auto-Looking Their Best”. Clients always bring me gifts from vacation or sometimes even flowers to show appreciation for my skills.
Who else deserves credit in your story?
I wouldn’t accomplish anything if it wasn’t because of my husband. I teased my husband if he wants to be on this interview and he just laughed. Even after I divorced him back 2022, he still paid for my schooling and lodging in Asia, support me emotionally. He did handyman work in all my three salons. At that time I knew I made a huge mistake.
He is my biggest cheer leader even when I lost everything over night back in 2025. I’m grateful he agrees to marry me up to two times. I’m very proud of my husband for being such a loving, supportive, forgiving and generous man he is.
