Hi Luke, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My career has taken me down a number of different paths, but each one has helped shape who I am today. I served in the military, worked in electronics, security, and restaurant management, and along the way, studied broadcasting and marketing. Along the way, I discovered a passion for working with people and creating experiences that leave a lasting impression.
That passion eventually led me into both photography and DJ entertainment. While they may seem like very different professions, I see them as two sides of the same coin. As a DJ, I help create unforgettable moments. As a photographer, I preserve them. Both require creativity, technical skill, preparation, and the ability to connect with people.
Today, I own Cascade Ayre Media, my photography brand, while also providing professional DJ services for weddings, dance events, corporate functions, and private celebrations through Stompeder Studios. Although the businesses serve different roles, they’re built on the same philosophy: success isn’t just about delivering a great product—it’s about creating an experience that people will remember long after the event is over.
I’m grateful for every opportunity to be part of life’s milestones, whether I’m behind the camera or behind the DJ booth. Being trusted with those moments is something I never take for granted.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Like most entrepreneurs, the road hasn’t always been smooth, but I wouldn’t change it. Every challenge has taught me something that has made me better at serving my clients.
One of the biggest lessons has been learning that running a business requires far more than simply being good at your craft. You have to become a marketer, accountant, salesperson, web designer, and problem solver, often all at the same time. Building a reputation also takes patience. Great work doesn’t automatically bring clients. You have to earn trust, build relationships, and consistently deliver on your promises.
I’ve also learned that every setback is an opportunity to improve. Whether it’s adapting to changing technology, learning new skills, or finding better ways to serve my clients, I’ve always approached challenges as opportunities for growth rather than reasons to give up. Those experiences have shaped not only my business, but also the way I serve every client.

Through Cascade Ayre Media, I specialize in portrait and event photography, creating images that preserve genuine moments and tell meaningful stories. Whether I’m photographing families, couples, dancers, or community events, my goal is to capture authentic memories that people will treasure for years to come.
What I’m most proud of isn’t any single photograph—it’s the relationships I’ve built with my clients. When someone trusts me to document an important moment in their life, that’s a responsibility I take seriously. Seeing clients return, recommend me to their friends and family, or invite me back for another milestone is the greatest compliment I can receive.
I believe what sets me apart is my approach. My background in military service, live event production, and DJ entertainment has taught me the value of preparation, adaptability, and attention to detail. I don’t just show up to take pictures—I work to create an experience where people feel comfortable, confident, and able to be themselves.
I believe the best photographs aren’t created by the camera—they’re created by the connection between the photographer and the people in front of it. When people feel comfortable enough to be themselves, genuine moments happen naturally, and those are the moments worth preserving.
Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
I’ve always been curious by nature. I enjoy learning new skills, solving problems, and figuring out how things work. Whether I’m refining a photograph, planning an event, learning a new piece of technology, or tackling a creative project, I find a lot of satisfaction in constantly improving.
But what brings me the most happiness is using those skills to create something meaningful for other people. Seeing a client’s reaction to their photos, watching a full dance floor, or knowing I helped make someone’s special day a little more memorable reminds me that the work is about far more than the services I provide. It’s about people, and that’s what makes it worthwhile.
