Today we’d like to introduce you to Ryan Clark.
Hi Ryan , thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Started Martial Arts at the age of 15. I owned and operated a Martial Arts gym in Eugene, OR. from 2002 to 2013. My wife and I moved to Bend in 2013, and that is when I started Clark’s University of Martial Arts. We teach kids as young as 5 to adults who are 70+. Our gym motto is “Human development through Martial Arts training.” It’s a family gym focused on character development for kids and a place where everyone can come and connect with other people in the community.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
For the most part, it has been a smooth road. One of the biggest struggles was finding the right people to help push the gym forward. We need to ensure we have the best coaches, with the best attitudes, who share a love for the martial arts.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
We specialize in teaching people more about themselves through martial arts. We have several people who compete and do very well. We also have people who just want to be a part of a community and have fun. I’m most proud of helping teenagers find their way. They are faced with a plethora of different influences, and I love helping them find a love for martial arts and teaching them characteristics they will need to be successful later in life.
Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
Having a positive mental attitude and determination.
