Meet Emmett Armstrong of Oregon

Today we’d like to introduce you to Emmett Armstrong.

Hi Emmett, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’m a second-generation entrepreneur; born and raised here in Southern Oregon. My father owned and operated a small trucking company (dump truck + excavator + semi trucks); and from him I learned the importance of hard work and the value of thinking ahead to the next step.

The work I do now is very different – I sit in a nice office, build websites, answer emails; but I’m thankful for those lessons and his example.

I graduated from high school (Logos Charter School) and during that time I also attended a few Rogue Community College classes for a partial AA degree. HOWEVER I never finished that degree, and instead I started working as a jr. business consultant at Revolution Thinking (revthink.com). I met Tim Thompson through a speech & debate club where his family and mine both participated in competitions.

Tim taught me about spreadsheets and cashflow, but more importantly he taught me about people. As a business consultant I learned how to solve problems and navigate client relationships.

Tim helped me start my own business, and soon I was working as a marketing consultant and helping design studios with their sales pipelines (OnRamp Data). During COVID I ended up pivoting my business slightly up the marketing stack; moving from emails and sales scripts to websites and marketing campaigns.

For the last 6+ years I’ve been working with SaaS and other B2B companies who need professional websites and marketing automations. I work in tools like Webflow, Zapier, Google Tag Manager, and more – plus a whole host of AI tools.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Yes I believe my path has been fairly smooth if I’m honest. I found a great fit for my particular personality and innate skillsets.

Of course there were some struggles early on, when I hadn’t quite realized what my clients actually needed.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I specialize in a tool called Webflow; which is a way to build pixel-perfect websites for professional teams. I’m proud to be the only Enterprise Professional Partner who’s also a FREELANCER. This means I’m a much better fit for some companies over a large agency with a bloated team. I’m proud of my relationships with clients and industry peers, and I’m looking forward to giving back and teaching through my Youtube channel (@armstrongagency) for those who come after me.

Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc?
My number one book recommendation is Extreme Ownership by Jocko Willink. This book absolutely changed my inner monologue with myself and helped me see where I can take action instead of complaining or waiting for others. This has been crucial to my performance as a solo entrepreneur, plus it helps with every area of my life as well.
