Today we’d like to introduce you to Ålexander Cai Zettas.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Within The Sound Studios is driven by musician and entrepreneur Ålexander Cai Zettas. Professional drummer, Educator, Music photo-journalist, and Independent Instrument Sales Rep based in Eugene, OR. He discovered his passion for music at a young age and was supported to start drum lessons when he was at the age of 7. Consistently learning throughout his education in adolescence participating and earning awards in jazz and band programs. His passion continued into college where he joined the drumline attending The University of North Dakota. he earned his Bachelor’s Degree studying Music and Visual Arts while simultaneously working in sales at record stores and guitar shops.
In the early part of his career, he worked as a Junior Music Publicist for a boutique agency outside of Los Angeles called Working Brilliantly. There, is where he began to develop his relations with artists, publications, and venues across the United States to expose new talent to the emerging scene. After working with artists to develop their brand he continued to find new ways of supporting musicians through Photography. He launched DescribeLight Photo and has since worked publications such as Relix Magazine and Music Marauders shooting many artists including Beck, Eric Church, Umphrey’s Mcgee, Tom Petty, Steve Miller, Kid Cudi, AC/DC, Phantogram, and countless others.
During the pandemic the music industry slowed down and he settled in Eugene, OR starting Within The Sound Studios offering drum lessons and designing websites. Since, Ålexander has incorporated his sales skills with adopting Cascadia Music Sales as an extension of his lifelong relationship with music and the people who live it. He is currently a rep for Allegra Drums, Dean Guitars, Luna, and ddrum among many others.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Independent creative branding and services has had it’s ups and downs. In 2020, the music industry was at a nearly complete standstill and live events were put on hold. As a drummer in particular, finding the right space to rehearse and teach can be tough situation to not bother neighborhoods or other businesses. Luckily, Eugene has a fantastic rehearsal space for bands and musicians to rent by the month that has been a solution.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I specialize in drum education and in-person lessons. My education and 25+ years of playing has led to a unique exploration of drum theory utilizing mind-body and music therapy practices that use binaural frequencies to unlock a student’s potential. I also have the ability to coach drummers in a professional setting as I have experience in many areas in the music industry.
