Hi Ursula , so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I have been interested in skin care, makeup and beauty my entire life, I was fascinated with my grandmother’s tubes of lipstick, my mother’s eyeshadows and the tube of concealer that my aunt would apply under her eyes telling me that it was meant for the, “dark circles,” .
Back in the 70’s and 80’s for the average person skin care was a bottle of Oil of Olay. My sister and I used to repeat the commercials, “Oil of Olay it can make you look younger too,” and a weekly visit from the Avon sales representative and her wonderful tiny samples she would for us to try out. I was obsessed.
I have been treating people’s skin since 1998. I began as a Registered Nurse in a cardio vascular ICU hourly skin assessments and care for the bed bound patients.
When my youngest son was born with disability i chose to become a full time tutor and assist to him, of sorts to help him with his arduous journey ahead of him.
It was right around the time my son became less dependent on me during his schooling that he expressed to me that he wanted to become a massage therapist.
decided right then and there that I would go back to school myself so that I could aid my son on his career path, so we could open a small skin care/ wellness center spa together.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
When I went back to school for esthetics the closest school was in a different state and I had to drive 260 miles both ways, a total of 4 hours 4 days a week getting home at 2-3:00 am Monday- Thursday for 6 months.
I put myself through both schools and worked full time through school as well so that I may support my sons, I was a single mother. With my youngest son needing full time care and help.
I started a business myself for my son and myself over 3,000 miles from closest friend or family member.

I offer a variety of skin care and esthetics services, from waxing to lash lifts, anti aging, scar treatments and skin rejuvenation.
I offer membership programs to help offset costs to my clients.

We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
I took a risk changing career paths from a sure thing to a very highly competitive field.
Moving to a different state and starting a business rather than staying in a safe job .
I would say it is paying off I have a very successful business I started with my son and am fully self employed.
