Hi Amy, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
All Around Hat Co. was originally started in 2022, but our chapter with the business is just beginning! We’ve only owned the company for a very short time, and we couldn’t be more excited about where it’s headed.
Katie and I are cousins and have always dreamed about owning and running a business together. Over the years, we talked about what that might look like, but we never really knew what the right opportunity would be. Then came All Around Hat Co.
We had experienced the custom hat-making process ourselves and absolutely loved everything about it—the creativity, the experience, and especially the way every person walks away with something completely unique to them. When the opportunity came along for us to take over the business, it just felt like the perfect fit.
Now we’re putting our own spin on an already amazing company while continuing what made people love it in the first place. We’re excited to grow the hat bar, meet new people, travel to events, host private parties and corporate events, and give others the same fun experience that made us fall in love with it.
We may be new owners, but we have big plans, and we’re so excited to see where this adventure takes us!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
So far, we’ve been really fortunate that the transition has been pretty smooth. We were handed something very special by the previous owners, and we don’t take that lightly. They built an amazing business, created a loyal following, and gave us such a great foundation to build from.
Right now, our biggest challenge is simply learning all the ins and outs of owning and running the business ourselves. There’s a lot that happens behind the scenes—from inventory and events to booking, marketing, and all the little details you don’t necessarily think about until you’re the one doing them!
We’re learning as we go, figuring out what works for us, and slowly adding our own touch while still honoring what made All Around Hat Co. so special to begin with. It’s a lot to learn in a short amount of time, but we’re having so much fun doing it and are really excited for what’s ahead.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
All Around Hat Co. is a custom hat experience where people get to create something that truly feels like them. We offer a full hat bar with a variety of hats and tons of ways to make them your own from hat bands, feathers and playing cards to pins, branding, burning and all the little details that turn a hat into something completely unique.
We have our studio in Turner, Oregon, where customers can book an appointment and come create with us, but a huge part of what we do is taking the hat bar on the road. We love traveling to wineries, rodeos, markets and community events, and we also offer private parties, bachelorette parties, weddings and corporate events. We can work with a small group looking for a fun afternoon together or bring the experience to a large event with more than 100 guests.
What really sets us apart is that we aren’t just selling hats we’re creating an experience. Picking out your hat is only the beginning. You get to sit down with us, play around with different ideas and watch your hat come together right in front of you. No two hats have to look alike, and that’s probably our favorite part. We love seeing someone start out saying, “I have no idea what I want,” and then leave wearing something they absolutely love.
We’re also really proud that this is something for everyone. We carry styles for women, men and kids, and you definitely don’t have to consider yourself a “hat person” or live a Western lifestyle to come have fun with us. We want it to feel welcoming, creative and a little outside the ordinary.
As the new owners, we’re especially proud to have been trusted with a brand that was already so loved. The previous owners built something incredibly special, and our goal isn’t to change what made All Around Hat Co. great. We want to honor what they created while bringing our own personalities, ideas and energy into this next chapter.
More than anything, we want people to know that when you book All Around Hat Co., you’re supporting a small, family-owned Oregon business run by two cousins who genuinely love what we get to do. Whether you visit us in Turner or we bring the hat bar to you, we want you to leave with a great hat, but even more importantly, a really great memory.
Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
Katie and I grew up as cousins, but we’ve always been more like built in friends. Our families are close, and we both grew up with that small town, hardworking mentality where family, community and showing up for people were just part of life.
Personality wise, we’re different in a lot of ways, which is probably why we work so well together. We each bring our own strengths, ideas and personalities to the business, but we’ve always shared a creative side and an entrepreneurial spirit. Even growing up, we loved the idea of doing something of our own someday. We just didn’t know what that something would be.
We both love the Western lifestyle, getting together with friends and family, and anything that gives us an excuse to be creative. As adults, life has taken us through different careers, marriage, motherhood and plenty of other adventures, but the dream of doing something together never really went away.
Looking back, it makes a lot of sense that we ended up here. All Around Hat Co. combines so many things we naturally love. Creativity, people, events, Western style and getting to build something together. It feels a little bit like all those pieces finally found their place.
