Hi Evonne, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Ive been throwing tea parties for my friends for years and one day I and a friend were walking in down town Salem and we spotted an empty unit in one of the building. It was so beautiful were both just struck and decided right then we needed to do something with the business ideas we’ve had been tossing around. I decided a tea room was the best platform for the bath and body products I’d been making. So we got to work. The location in the Reed was found by my husband and was perfect. Since I opened the tea services took center stage and the bath and body products are on the back burner for now.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The struggle was getting my doors open. There is no check list on what needs to be done or what is required. You just get tossed around from one city department to another until you finally get it right. From there it’s all pretty smooth. Learning what months are slow and why has been a struggle but I’m still learning and growing.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I make delicious small pretty food. I create a slow and relaxing experience in a whimsical setting that allows us to remember what it is to be free to play. None of us truly out grow the magic of story books. We convince ourself we do but I’ve created a space that brings it all back.
Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
I’ve created a space where you can wear the dress. Put on the hat and be silly and beautiful in a place where that fits. But also a place where life’s difficulties don’t matter and you are cared for.
