Hummingbird Heart Co. opened its doors in July 2021 as an apothecary and boutique with a mission to support independent, sustainable brands and create a space where mind, body, and spirit could thrive. What began as a love for holistic, plant-based healing and a passion for a more sustainable planet soon became something much more personal: a journey toward healing, sobriety, and finding my way back to myself.
My relationship with alcohol began long before I ever opened Hummingbird Heart Co. Growing up, I witnessed the impact alcohol could have on a family. As I got older, navigating stress, anxiety, and personal loss, I found myself leaning on alcohol in ways that no longer served me. After tragically losing my brother and sister-in-law in 2019, I knew something in my life needed to change. I was searching for hope, healing, and a way forward.
Hummingbird Heart Co. became part of that journey.
As we were finishing construction on our original apothecary and boutique, I had an idea to create a small marketplace featuring kombucha on tap and a selection of functional, alcohol-free beverages. Little did I know that this modest addition would become the heart of what Hummingbird Heart Co. is today: a Kombucha & Dry Elixir Bar, Non-Alcoholic Bottle Shop, and Apothecary.

Whether you are sober AF, sober curious, exploring a more conscious lifestyle, or simply looking for a beautiful place to gather, there is a space for you here. We believe that choosing not to drink alcohol doesn’t mean giving up connection, celebration, or a damn good cocktail!
Our shelves are thoughtfully curated with functional beverages, botanical elixirs, adaptogens, and sustainably produced goods that invite us to slow down, reconnect, and ask ourselves one of the most important questions:
“What do I need to sustain myself?”
For me, sustainability has always been about more than the planet. It is about how we care for ourselves, our families, our communities, and one another. It is about creating a life that feels nourishing and finding little moments of joy, even when life gets messy.
Today, Hummingbird Heart Co. is more than a business. It is a gathering place, a community, and a reminder that we are all on our own journeys. My hope is that every person who walks through our doors feels welcomed, supported, and inspired to discover what living well means to them.
I hope that by sharing a little of my story, I might help someone else along the way. And I hope that through the small, intentional choices we make every day, we can create a more sustainable future for ourselves, our families, our community, and our beautiful Mother Earth.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Has it been a smooth road? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Oh, it has definitely not been a smooth road! But I think that is part of the beauty of this journey.
When I first opened Hummingbird Heart Co. in 2021, I had a vision of creating a space that brought people together through wellness, sustainability, and a shared love for plant-based healing. What I didn’t realize at the time was how much this business would become a reflection of my own personal journey.
One of the biggest challenges was navigating my relationship with alcohol and discovering what it truly meant to create a life that felt good to me. As my own journey evolved, so did Hummingbird Heart Co. What began as an apothecary and boutique transformed into a non-alcoholic bottle shop and dry elixir bar, creating a space where people could gather, celebrate, and connect without alcohol being at the center of the experience.
Then came Soul Hum Elixirs! Bringing a new beverage brand into the world has been an entirely different adventure. From developing our formulas and navigating production to building relationships with retailers and introducing people to something they may have never experienced before, there has been a tremendous amount of learning, patience, and perseverance involved.
As a small business owner, you wear so many hats, and there are days when it feels like you are figuring everything out as you go. But I have also learned that some of the most beautiful things come from the unexpected twists and turns.
Through it all, I have been incredibly grateful for the people who have believed in this vision, supported our growth, and become part of our community. Every challenge has helped shape Hummingbird Heart Co. and Soul Hum Elixirs into what they are today.
It hasn’t always been easy, but it has absolutely been worth it. And I truly believe we are just getting started!

Soul Hum was born from a desire to offer something different. We wanted to create a beverage that wasn’t simply an alternative to alcohol, but an experience all its own. Our Uplift and Unwind adaptogenic elixirs are thoughtfully crafted with botanicals, adaptogens, and terpenes to offer two distinct drinking experiences. Uplift is designed for moments when you want to feel energized and inspired, while Unwind invites you to slow down, relax, and enjoy the moment.
Our philosophy is simple: More than a drink. It’s a movement.
One of the things I am most proud of is watching Soul Hum grow beyond the walls of Hummingbird Heart Co. What began as a vision in our little corner of Ashland is now reaching new communities through our retail and wholesale partners. Seeing people discover our products, share them with friends, and incorporate them into their own rituals has been incredibly rewarding.
But perhaps what makes me proudest is knowing that both businesses are rooted in something deeply personal. Hummingbird Heart Co. and Soul Hum Elixirs are extensions of my own journey toward a more intentional, connected, and fulfilling life.
