Rising Stars: Meet Keegen Mueller of Oregon

Today we’d like to introduce you to Keegen Mueller.

Hi Keegen, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I have a love for food and a love for my community. I wanted to make a positive impact where I live in Klamath Falls and Leap seemed like the place to make that happen. I took over leap back in 2018 and wanted to help push the focus of great quality food with the best sourcing as possible. Leap is a place where you can always expect something new and unusual than the norm. We love bold and familar flavors and we like to try something new with that foundation.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Owning a restaurant is anything but smooth. We like many restaurants have had to deal with changing trends, consumer spending habit changes, staffing, supply cost just to name a few. The food and beverage is constantly changing and it takes a lot of creativity and flexibility to make it work.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I enjoy making sure the food we deserve at leap not only taste great but looks amazing as well. When I am making anything be it soups, salsas, smoothies, salads, I believe you eat with your eyes first. Color and texture is very important to me. I want our food to have colors that reflect nature and all of the beauty it has to offer. I enjoy the marketing aspect of the business. The photos and videos we share need to have a tether to the food and experience we are offering. What sets us apart is that we let natural flavors speak for themselves. We are not burying everything in excess amounts cheese, salt and sugar.

Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc?
I really have enjoyed these 2 books recently. Green lights by Matthew McConaughey and Yearbook by Seth Rogen. This books don’t have a direct connection to my business of food but they are great books that help remind me why I do what I do at leap every day.
