Hi SCOTT, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Scott Edelman’s love of helping people find their home began when he started his career as a leasing agent in San Francisco. After several years of success in residential leasing, Scott made the leap into real estate. When he and husband, Scott “Gunner” Friesen made the move up to Portland, Oregon, he got his start at Knipe Realty. In his more than five year career as a Realtor, Scott has sold nearly 200 homes – building a thriving referral based business and accumulating over 100 5-star reviews. In 2023, as Scott’s client portfolio was increasing, the duo made the decision to go into business together to continue building the Sold by Scott brand and pool their collective talents. Gunner had previously been in the nonprofit world as a director of fundraising and sponsorships, and brought his marketing and communications savvy into the fold. In the last few years the team has continued to build their family real estate brand and help more clients than ever find their dream home.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The ups and downs of the real estate market since the global pandemic in 2020 have made things pretty challenging at times. The Portland area market seems to always be in a cycle of boom or bust, and lately – with ever rising interest rates and affordability concerns – the Sold by Scott team has had to make adjustments in order to navigate a distinctly rough time for buyers. Thankfully the two have built a referral business based on the trust and respect of their past clients, which has helped keep them successful.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Sold by Scott is known for direct, honest, and prompt communication with our clients and cooperating agents. We don’t sugar coat or bs buyers and sellers and embrace tough conversations when and where necessary. We have a casual and fun process which meets clients where they are at and invites them into the process – giving them agency as new or returning home owners. Our team goes beyond the ‘set it and forget it’ mentality used by some agents and dives deep into the workings of the market. We are astute and prodigious negotiators, building relationships with other agents and following up as many times as it takes to achieve our clients desired results. We believe heavily in education and demystifying the process, so anyone can feel confident and knowledgable about their options.
