Today we’d like to introduce you to Gergana Kirilova.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I was born in Bulgaria, and I like to think I carry a little of my homeland’s magic wherever I go. That connection to my roots has shaped my work, which blends ancient wisdom, modern energy healing, and a practical belief that meaningful change starts with listening to yourself.
My Reiki journey began in Lincoln, Nebraska, where I built a small healing community. What started as a personal calling grew into a passion for helping others reconnect with themselves through sessions, classes, and shared experiences. Eventually, that path brought me to Portland, Oregon, and its vibrant metaphysical community.
Opening The Way Home Shop was one of those dreams I imagined doing “one day.” Then, somehow, “one day” became an actual storefront! I didn’t have a rich uncle or a large bank account waiting to fund it. What I had was a belief in the dream and a willingness to take the next step—even when I couldn’t see the entire staircase.
The shop became a place where my love of Reiki, ritual, and spiritual exploration could meet my love of community. I began hosting events, and as they grew tremendously, so did the vision. That momentum led me to manifest The Way Home Studio, where I now work alongside two amazing partners. Together, we’re creating space for people to gather, learn, explore, and feel at home.
Today, my work includes Reiki sessions, chakra healing, Akashic Records readings, and magick rituals. I also teach others how to access the Akashic Records and offer Reiki training leading to internationally recognized certification. At the heart of it all is helping people reconnect with their inner wisdom and discover their own magic. Looking back, the thread through my story is simple: I kept following what felt meaningful and taking action to bring it to life. A little magic, a lot of work, and a community willing to dream with me have brought me here.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It hasn’t been an entirely smooth road, but it has been a meaningful one. When I opened my business, I knew almost no one locally—I had four friends and a big dream. Building awareness and earning people’s trust took time, consistency, and a willingness to keep showing up. Seeing those small beginnings grow into a community of hundreds has been one of the most rewarding parts of the journey.
The biggest challenges continue to be foot traffic, the economy, and finances. You can create a beautiful space and offer something meaningful, but you still have to make the numbers work. As a small business owner, balancing accessibility for the community with the costs of keeping the doors open is an ongoing learning experience.
Those struggles have taught me to be creative, adaptable, and more intentional with my time and resources. Believing in the dream got me started; learning how to sustain it has been its own education. The community we’ve built reminds me why I took that leap in the first place.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about The Way Home Shop?
The Way Home Shop is a metaphysical shop and gathering space in Portland, Oregon, built around the idea that coming home to yourself can be a powerful experience. We offer tools for spiritual exploration—crystals, candles, incense, and work by local artisans—alongside readings, healing sessions, classes, and community events.
My own specialties include Reiki, chakra healing, Akashic Records readings, and magick rituals. I teach people how to access the Akashic Records for themselves and others, and I offer Reiki training leading to internationally recognized certification. I love helping people move from curiosity into practice, whether they’re exploring something new or deepening a path they’ve followed for years.
What sets The Way Home apart is the personal connection. People can come in with questions, explore at their own pace, and meet practitioners with different perspectives and gifts. Through our psychic readings, workshops, and gatherings, we create opportunities for people to learn from one another and build real relationships. Our sister space, The Way Home Studio, extends that vision by providing room for classes, events, and community experiences alongside my two wonderful partners.
What I’m most proud of is the community behind the name. I opened the business knowing almost no one locally, and those beginnings have grown into a community of hundreds. Watching people return, form friendships, share their gifts, and feel comfortable being themselves has been incredibly meaningful.
I want readers to know that they don’t need to have everything figured out to walk through our doors. You don’t need a particular spiritual label or experience level. Come with curiosity, bring your questions, and see what speaks to you. My hope is that you leave with something useful—a tool, a new perspective, a connection, or a little more trust in your own inner wisdom.
So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
My family matters most to me. I love the work I do and the community I’ve built, but my family is at the heart of why I do it all. I want to build a life that makes room for meaningful work, love, laughter, and being present for the people closest to me.
Motherhood, especially, has shaped how I think about success. I want my son to see that it’s possible to believe in a dream and work toward it, while also knowing that his worth—and mine—isn’t measured by how much we accomplish. For me, success means having the time and energy to enjoy the life I’m working so hard to create, with the people I love.
