Life & Work with Kirsten Appel of Oregon

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kirsten Appel.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I’ve always been driven by a passion for creating beautiful spaces, solving problems, and making things work. Before moving to Bend, I spent 12 years building and running a successful business in the trendy Northwest Portland area, where I developed a strong foundation in design, construction, and client service.

Five years ago, I moved to Bend and continued working in the design and construction industry, gaining even more experience in managing projects, working with contractors and trades, and understanding the many details that go into maintaining a home.

Over time, I realized that estate management felt like the perfect marriage of all of my skills and experience. I have a genuine appreciation for homes and the work that goes into them, but even more importantly, I understand the responsibility that comes with caring for someone’s largest investment.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Like every entrepreneur, I’ve faced my share of hurdles along the way. Building a business requires resilience, patience, and the willingness to keep moving forward even when things don’t go exactly as planned.

I’ve learned that the challenges are often what shape you the most. Having the fortitude to adapt, learn from setbacks, and continue moving forward is what truly defines you. Every obstacle has brought a new lesson, and each one has helped me become a stronger business owner and better equipped to serve my clients today.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Our Work & What Sets Us Apart

At MG Estate Management & Concierge, we specialize in caring for high-end homes with the same attention and pride that we would give our own. From ongoing home watch and maintenance to coordinating vendors, overseeing projects, preparing a home for arrival, and managing the countless details that come with owning an estate, we provide our clients with peace of mind knowing their home is in good hands.

My closest colleagues and business friends would tell you that one of the things that sets me apart is my upbeat, positive attitude. I genuinely believe there is no problem that can’t be solved. There is always a solution—you just have to find it.

With years of experience in design, construction, project management, and home improvement, I bring a unique perspective to estate management. I understand how a home is built, how it should function, and what it takes to keep everything running smoothly. I’m not afraid to roll up my sleeves, figure things out, and make sure the job gets done right.

What I’m most proud of is the trust I’ve built with my clients and colleagues over the years. I want every client to feel that their home is not just being watched—it’s truly being cared for.

Do you have any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
I grew up in Bend and was fortunate to be part of the ski team, which gave me so many great memories and a real love for the outdoors. But when I think about my childhood, what stands out most is my family.

We are a very close and supportive family, and I’ve always felt incredibly lucky to have people around me who genuinely believe in each other. We’ve always celebrated each other’s successes, supported each other through challenges, and cheered each other on. That sense of family and encouragement has stayed with me throughout my life and is something I’m incredibly grateful for
