Today we’d like to introduce you to Eddie Siller.
Hi Eddie, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My journey as a barber began in 2021 when my dad encouraged me to start cutting my younger brother’s hair. I started practicing in our garage, cutting my brother’s hair and eventually practicing on other family members. What started as something simple quickly became something I enjoyed and wanted to pursue as a career.
I decided to attend barber school to develop my skills and learn the techniques needed to become a professional barber. I completed barber school in 2022, but I knew that graduating was only the beginning. I continued practicing in my garage, using every haircut as an opportunity to improve my technique, build my confidence, and become better at my craft.
Recently, I took another important step in my journey by joining Revelry Barber in Tigard, Oregon. I’m excited about this new chapter and the opportunity to continue growing as a barber, learning from others, and providing my clients with the best experience possible.
In May 2026, I went back to school to pursue hair design and esthetics. I wanted to expand my knowledge and skills so I could offer a wider range of services to my clientele. For me, continuing my education is about more than just learning new techniques—it’s about growing as a professional and being able to provide my clients with more options and a complete experience.
Looking back, I’m proud of how far I’ve come—from picking up clippers and practicing on my younger brother in our garage to becoming a professional barber and continuing my education in hair design and esthetics. I know there is always more to learn, and I’m committed to continuing to grow, improve, and perfect my craft.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
One of the biggest challenges I faced was balancing barber school with working a full-time day job. I had bills to pay and needed to cover the cost of barber school, so I had to be very intentional with my time. After long days at work and school, I still made time to practice cutting hair and develop my skills. Finding people to practice on wasn’t always easy, but I continued using my garage as my space to learn, experiment, and improve. There were times when I felt tired or overwhelmed, but I reminded myself that every haircut was helping me get closer to becoming the barber I wanted to be. The sacrifices, long days, and extra hours of practice taught me the importance of discipline, consistency, and never giving up on something I’m passionate about.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
As a barber specializing in fades, I primarily provide men’s haircuts and take pride in being consistent and exceeding my clients’ expectations. I’m continuing my education in hair design so I can expand my skills, grow my clientele, and offer services to women as well. I’m most proud of how much I’ve grown as a barber and the progress I’ve made since I first started. Beyond my work behind the chair, I’m also proud of giving back to my community by partnering with local businesses to provide free haircuts to people experiencing homelessness who may not otherwise be able to afford one. For me, barbering is more than just cutting hair—it’s about building relationships, helping people feel confident, and using my skills to make a positive impact in my community.
Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
My biggest advice to any barber starting out is to be patient with yourself and trust the process. When I first started, I wish I had understood that becoming a great barber takes time, consistency, and a willingness to keep learning. Don’t compare your journey to someone else’s—focus on improving your skills one haircut at a time. Build genuine relationships with your clients, listen to what they want, and always strive to leave them feeling confident when they walk out of your chair. I’ve learned that every haircut, even the ones that don’t go exactly as planned, is an opportunity to learn and grow. Most importantly, stay humble, believe in your abilities, and never stop investing in yourself. Your talent will open doors, but your work ethic, character, and consistency are what will keep those doors open.
