Check Out Jared Lombardo’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jared Lombardo.

Hi Jared, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I grew up in Sacramento with the persistent dream of living creatively. This is why I have had a camera in my hand since the fourth grade. Growing up, my friends and I would make short films on our summer vacations. this was a passion that carried through to college where, after a brief stint learning the ropes in the photography world, I earned a degree in cinema studies at San Francisco State University. After which, I bounced around the creative world like a pinball. I worked as a documentary editor, an outdoor commercial videographer, and journalist before landing in Southern Oregon. It was here where I took my passions into my own hands and transitioned into building my own company. It was the area’s natural beauty and tight knit community that inspired me to focus on the art of film photography. While I have not given up filmmaking and video production, film photography and development has fully enveloped my interests. A passion that I feel so privileged to bring to my community.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
There is no such thing as a smooth road. Everyone struggles with something. For me, it was a smattering of mental health issues combined with some incredibly abusive work environments. Struggle fuels art so these are both something I try to channel into my work. With that said, I have been blessed with what I assume to be a smoother road to building a life and career than most. It has not been easy by any means, but I am grateful to not have to had endured more than I have up to this point.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
While I have many creative outlets, film photography is at the forefront of my creation. Shooting analog is a rare thing these days but I am incredibly proud to be on the forefront of the resurgence of the medium. I believe with the growth of AI and improvements in digital editing, people will shift back to the older, more honest methods of photography. I am proud to be leading this movement in my area.
