Check Out Zach Hevner’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Zach Hevner.

Hi Zach, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I grew up in a small farming and ranching community in eastern Oregon. Growing up on a farm teaches you a lot—hard work, accountability, and how to solve problems with your own hands. If something broke, you fixed it. If someone needed help, you showed up. Those lessons have stayed with me my entire life.

After high school, I attended Utah State University, where I studied Biology and competed in track and field. I always had an interest in science and understanding how things work, which eventually led me into several different industries. I spent time in research and development in the nutraceutical industry and later worked as a meter and electronics inspector for Cascade Natural Gas.

Each of those experiences taught me valuable skills, but I still felt drawn to building something of my own—something where I could directly serve people and make a difference in my community.

I found that opportunity in plumbing.

Plumbing is one of those trades that impacts people’s lives every single day. When someone has no hot water, a sewer backup, or a major leak, it’s more than just an inconvenience—it disrupts their life. I realized I loved solving problems, working with my hands, and helping people during stressful situations.

I started my plumbing company with a simple mission: provide honest service, do quality work, and treat customers the way I’d want my own family to be treated.

Building the business hasn’t always been easy. Like any small business owner, I’ve faced challenges, long hours, and plenty of obstacles along the way. But every challenge has reinforced why I started. Today, I take pride in serving families and businesses throughout the Treasure Valley and Eastern Oregon, helping them protect their homes and giving them peace of mind.

At the end of the day, I still carry the values I learned growing up on the farm—work hard, do what you say you’re going to do, and always leave things better than you found them. Those principles are the foundation of our company and the reason we’re committed to doing plumbing the right way, every single time.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Has it been a smooth road? Absolutely not.

Starting a plumbing business has been one of the hardest things I’ve ever done. People often see the trucks, the logos, and the growth, but they don’t see the sleepless nights, the stress, or the sacrifices that happen behind the scenes.

There have been months where I questioned whether I was making the right decision. I’ve worried about making payroll, generating enough leads, keeping trucks busy, and making sure customers receive the level of service they deserve. I’ve worked long days in the field only to spend nights doing estimates, answering phones, handling accounting, marketing, and putting out fires that come with running a business.

I’ve learned that being a business owner means wearing every hat imaginable. You’re the plumber, the salesperson, the marketer, the accountant, the HR department, and sometimes even the janitor.

One of the biggest challenges has been learning how to lead people. Plumbing is difficult work, but building a team and creating a culture where everyone takes pride in serving customers is even harder. There are setbacks, mistakes, and lessons that can only be learned through experience.

Financially, there have been difficult seasons too. Owning a business means taking risks, investing in equipment, buying trucks, paying for insurance, and making decisions with no guarantees. There are times when the pressure feels overwhelming because the responsibility doesn’t stop. Employees are counting on you for their livelihoods, and customers are counting on you to solve problems that matter to them.

But those struggles have also shaped me. They’ve taught me resilience, humility, patience, and perseverance. They’ve taught me that success isn’t about avoiding challenges—it’s about showing up every day, learning from your mistakes, and refusing to quit.

I didn’t start this business because it would be easy. I started it because I wanted to build something meaningful, serve my community, create opportunities for others, and prove to myself that hard work, integrity, and persistence still matter.

Every difficult day has made the mission even more important, and every customer we’ve helped reminds me why I took this leap in the first place.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m the owner of a plumbing and water treatment company serving communities throughout Idaho and Eastern Oregon. While we offer a full range of plumbing services—from drain cleaning and water heaters to sewer repairs and repipes—we’ve really become known for our expertise in water filtration and water quality solutions.

Water has a huge impact on people’s lives, and many homeowners don’t realize how much their water can affect their health, appliances, plumbing systems, skin, and even the taste of what they drink. I enjoy helping people understand what’s actually in their water and designing solutions that fit their specific needs rather than pushing a one-size-fits-all system.

What are you most proud of?

I’m most proud that we’ve built a reputation for being knowledgeable and honest. We take the time to educate our customers and help them make informed decisions. There have been a lot of long days, challenges, and sacrifices to build this business, but knowing that people trust us with something as important as their home’s water supply makes it all worth it.

What sets you apart from others?

I think what sets us apart is our approach to water treatment. We don’t just install equipment—we take the time to understand water chemistry, test the water, explain what we’re finding, and recommend solutions based on the homeowner’s actual needs.

A lot of companies can install a filter or softener. We focus on understanding the science behind water and educating our customers so they know exactly what they’re getting and why it matters. That expertise, combined with a commitment to honesty and doing things the right way, is what has helped us earn the trust of our customers.
