Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashley Brothers.

Hi Ashley, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
When I stepped onto the path of a healer and life coach in January 2004, my mission was simple and unwavering: to help people heal from the long-term effects of abuse, trauma, and neglect through energy medicine and spiritual healing.

Since then, I have immersed myself in the study of healing with doctors, scientists, shamans, mystics, and teachers from around the world, learning modalities that bridge ancient wisdom with modern understanding. What I learned didn’t simply transform my life—it saved it.

A Lifetime of Spiritual Sensitivity:

From my earliest memories, I experienced the world differently. I perceived things that others did not—seeing, hearing, and sensing spiritual phenomena, intuitively understanding people’s emotions, and occasionally experiencing events before they happened. These experiences often came unexpectedly and were especially heightened during moments of danger or crisis.

As a child and young adult, I had no framework for understanding these experiences. Rather than being recognized as gifts, they often led to misunderstanding and even psychiatric labels. It wasn’t until much later that I began to understand these experiences as part of a much larger spiritual path.

The Turning Point:

While working for the government, I wandered into a small spiritual shop and decided, almost on a whim, to have my first tarot reading. Before the reading had even ended, the woman looked at me and asked if I knew I could communicate with the dead. Then she handed me the business card of the woman who would become my first healer and mentor.

That encounter changed everything.

I enrolled in a weekend workshop on intuitive development and was astonished by how natural the work felt. Shortly afterward, I received my first shamanic healing, and my life changed almost overnight.

After years of living with debilitating depression, anxiety, PTSD, and the effects of childhood abuse, I experienced a profound transformation. I quit smoking, lost over 100 pounds, found my confidence, began public speaking, returned to school to study massage therapy, and devoted myself to learning healing traditions from cultures around the world.

For the first time, I experienced what genuine healing could feel like—not simply coping with pain, but becoming an entirely different version of myself. That experience became the foundation of my life’s work.

When Healing Became Personal:

Only a year into my training, everything I believed about healing would be tested.

A routine surgery turned into a life-altering medical tragedy after a large wad of surgical gauze was accidentally left inside my abdomen. The mistake led to systemic sepsis, multiple surgeries, the loss of my entire reproductive system, and years of devastating complications.

What followed was more than a decade of medical trauma.

I developed a rare autoimmune vasculitis that attacked my aorta and major arteries, suffered strokes, seizures, gastrointestinal paralysis, inflammatory bowel disease, profound weight loss, anemia, and numerous other life-threatening conditions. At times, I was dismissed, misdiagnosed, or told my symptoms were psychological despite overwhelming medical evidence (from test results) to the contrary.

Eventually, I required major cardiovascular surgery to restore blood flow to my brain, left arm, and both legs. Every day before the surgery was battle to stay alive. My arteries and aorta were so scarred that I could have died at any moment. Because my chance of survival had become so uncertain, I was advised to prepare my will and prepay for my cremation, my urn, and the thank-you cards for my own funeral. When the date of surgery came, my surgeon was suprised I had lasted as long as I had.

After sixteen strokes, countless seizures, and years of neurological recovery, I had to relearn how to read, do math, and eat solid food again. I rebuilt my health one step at a time through surgery, nutrition, herbs, nervous system regulation, subconscious work, spiritual practice, and energy medicine.

That journey forever changed my understanding of healing.

The Foundation of My Work:

Living through profound trauma taught me that healing is rarely limited to the physical body. Our thoughts, beliefs, emotions, nervous system, relationships, and even our sense of identity become intertwined with illness and suffering.

Today, my work integrates decades of study in energy medicine, hypnosis, trauma resolution, subconscious transformation, neuroscience, and spiritual healing to help people address the deeper patterns that shape their lives.

I have come to believe that everything—our health, relationships, identity, behaviors, success, and even our experience of reality—is influenced by the information and patterns carried within the unconscious mind, the nervous system, and the body’s energetic field. When those patterns change, people often discover they are capable of far more healing and transformation than they ever imagined.

What began as an unimaginable tragedy ultimately became my greatest teacher. It gave me not only compassion for suffering, but also unwavering faith in the extraordinary capacity of the human mind, body, and spirit to heal.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
My journey was anything but smooth.

The greatest obstacles weren’t simply the illnesses I faced—they were the years of uncertainty, misdiagnoses, and feeling unheard while searching for answers. Living through severe medical trauma taught me how isolating it can be when you’re desperately looking for help and don’t feel understood or believed. Those experiences challenged me physically, emotionally, and spiritually, and there were times when it would have been easy to lose hope.

Ironically, those same struggles became my greatest teachers. They gave me profound compassion for people who are living with chronic illness, trauma, or conditions that don’t fit neatly into conventional explanations. I understand what it feels like to spend years searching for answers, trying different treatments, and wondering if healing is even possible.

Rather than turning me away from healthcare, my experiences inspired me to broaden my understanding of it. I came to appreciate that healing can be multidimensional, often requiring attention to the body, the mind, the nervous system, emotions, relationships, and, for many people, their spiritual life. I believe conventional medicine and complementary approaches each have important strengths, and when used thoughtfully together, they can often support a more complete healing process.

Today, I am encouraged by the growing scientific interest in areas such as nervous system regulation, red light therapy, mindfulness, nutrition, herbal medicine, and other complementary approaches that are being studied alongside conventional care. My hope is that the future of healthcare continues moving toward a more integrative model—one that treats the whole person with both compassion and curiosity.

Ultimately, every obstacle I faced deepened my empathy and strengthened my commitment to helping others discover that healing is often possible, even when the path is long and uncertain.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Inner Temple Healing was founded on the belief that lasting transformation doesn’t come from treating symptoms alone—it comes from changing the unconscious patterns that shape our thoughts, emotions, behaviors, relationships, and even our physical well-being. My work bridges modern neuroscience with ancient energy healing traditions, integrating disciplines such as hypnosis, Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP), energy psychology, HeartMath, craniosacral therapy, Reiki, shamanic healing, pranic healing, and other mind-body approaches into a single, highly individualized process.

For more than twenty-two years, I have studied with physicians, neuroscientists, psychologists, master hypnotists, energy healers, and spiritual teachers from diverse cultures and traditions. Through that journey, I discovered that transformation isn’t about adding something new to a person—it’s about uncovering the version of themselves that already exists beneath fear, trauma, limiting beliefs, and conditioned identity.

One of the ideas that most fascinates me is that identity is far more fluid than we realize. Every significant experience leaves an imprint that shapes how we see ourselves and what we believe is possible. When those unconscious identities change, people’s lives often change with them. Whether someone feels stuck, anxious, disconnected, or held back by experiences from the past, my goal is to help them reconnect with a healthier, more empowered way of being.

Many people describe concepts like “past lives” as part of their healing journey. I view these experiences through an open and curious lens. Whether they represent symbolic experiences of the unconscious, spiritual realities, or what some theorists describe as parallel possibilities, I believe the meaning lies less in proving what they are and more in the profound transformation they can facilitate.

What sets Inner Temple Healing apart is that I don’t rely on a single modality or a one-size-fits-all protocol. Every client receives an approach tailored to their unique history, nervous system, beliefs, and goals. By integrating science, psychology, and spirituality, I help people move beyond insight alone and create meaningful, lasting change at the level where many of our deepest patterns originate.

More than anything, I’m proud of creating a space where people feel deeply seen without judgment. My work is about helping individuals rediscover the wisdom, resilience, and wholeness that have always existed within them—so they can live with greater freedom, purpose, and authenticity.

Any big plans?
One of the projects I’m most excited about is my collaboration with Luminara, a global platform founded by Romain Daumont in France that connects people seeking energy healing with highly vetted practitioners from around the world for personalized remote healing sessions. Luminara’s mission is to make high-quality biofield therapies more accessible while raising the standards of professionalism, education, and research within the field.

Looking ahead, we’re working alongside research institutions and universities to support what we hope will become one of the largest scientific investigations into the effects of energy healing and biofield therapies. Our goal is to contribute meaningful data that helps bridge the gap between ancient healing traditions and modern scientific inquiry. As someone who has always believed that science and spirituality can complement one another, being part of that movement is incredibly meaningful to me.

I’m also excited about expanding access to these services by reaching new populations, including veterans, individuals living with chronic illness, and others seeking integrative approaches to well-being, while exploring opportunities for broader collaboration within the healthcare system. As research in this field continues to evolve, I believe we’ll gain a deeper understanding of how energy-based approaches may support the nervous system, reduce stress, improve quality of life, and complement conventional medical care. Being part of that evolution—and helping shape the future of integrative healing—is something I genuinely look forward to.
