Community Highlights: Meet Ethan Pap of Blessed Design LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ethan Pap.

Hi ethan, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I’m Ethan Pap, 25 years old, and the owner of Blessed Design LLC. I’m the son of Romanian immigrants, and hard work, persistence, and taking pride in what you do were values I grew up around from a young age. I got started in construction early on and eventually developed a passion for tile work because of the precision, detail, and craftsmanship involved. Over time, I worked hard to sharpen my skills and build a company of my own here in Portland, Oregon.

Like many people, I faced challenges and setbacks early in life, but those experiences helped shape who I am today and pushed me to build a better future for myself. Tile work gave me purpose, discipline, and a path forward. It became more than just installing tile—it became a way to provide for my family, stay focused on the right path, and build meaningful relationships with clients and people in the industry.

Today, Blessed Design LLC specializes in custom tile showers, bathroom remodels, waterproof shower systems, and detailed tile installation. We take pride in delivering clean, long-lasting craftsmanship while building our company on honesty, professionalism, and quality work. For me, Blessed is bigger than tile on the wall—it’s about creating something meaningful through hard work, consistency, and trust.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Not at all. One of the biggest struggles has honestly been the uncertainty that comes with taking a chance on yourself and building a business from the ground up. There have been periods of slow work, difficulty generating leads, and a lot of frustration trying to figure out marketing, Google, and advertising. There’s also real pressure that comes with responsibilities like mortgage payments and keeping everything moving forward when work slows down.

At times, it can definitely be stressful, especially in the beginning when you’re trying to establish your name and reputation in a competitive industry. But through all of it, building relationships with clients, contractors, and people in the community has been what helped me push through. A lot of opportunities came from trust, word of mouth, and simply treating people the right way.

Those experiences taught me patience, consistency, and the importance of staying committed even when things aren’t moving as fast as you want them to. Every project and every relationship has helped Blessed Design LLC continue to grow.

We’ve been impressed with Blessed Design LLC, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Blessed Design LLC is a Portland-based tile contractor specializing in custom tile showers, bathroom remodels, waterproof shower systems, tile flooring, and detailed tile installation. What sets us apart is our focus on doing things the right way—from proper substrate preparation and waterproofing to clean layout work and precise finishes. We believe quality tile work starts behind the wall long before the grout goes in, which is why we follow Oregon building codes, TCNA standards, and proven installation methods on every project.

We’re known for clean, professional tile installations, honest communication, and attention to detail. Whether it’s a custom walk-in shower, large-format tile installation, or a full bathroom renovation, we take pride in building projects that are both visually refined and built to last long term.

What I’m most proud of is the brand itself and what it represents. Blessed Design LLC became more than just a tile company—it became a way to build something meaningful through hard work, consistency, and trust. Tile work gave me purpose and a path forward, and I’ve built this company around professionalism, reliability, and treating people the right way. At the end of the day, we want clients to feel confident they hired someone who genuinely cares about the quality of the work and the experience throughout the process.

What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
The most important lesson I’ve learned is that consistency and relationships matter more than quick success. There were times where work was slow, leads weren’t coming in, and trying to grow a business felt stressful and uncertain. In the beginning, I thought success would come from marketing or ads alone, but over time I realized that treating people right, standing behind your work, and staying consistent every day is what actually builds a long-term business.

I’ve also learned that craftsmanship and reputation go hand in hand in the tile industry. One quality installation can lead to another opportunity, another relationship, and another referral. A lot of the growth of Blessed Design LLC has come from word of mouth and the trust built with homeowners, contractors, and clients over time.

Most importantly, I learned that challenges can either discourage you or shape you into a stronger person. Tile work gave me purpose, structure, and something meaningful to build toward. It taught me patience, accountability, and the value of earning trust through hard work and consistency.
