Hi Chelsii, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
We didn’t seek out starting a business, but then we fell in love with plants, and they fell in love with us! This business was founded from a love of plants and community. Without community we wouldn’t be here, and all of our first accounts were referral based. We were driven by a dream of having a career we love, while prioritizing family. We’ve created an environment where balance between family and work is the standard, and we take great joy in providing the same opportunities to our employees. After seven years and counting, we are proud of what we have built, and even more so, grateful for the support and partnership of the Portland community throughout the years.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
We’ve learned so many lessons, and most of them the hard way! We’ve had to pivot so many times. When covid hit we lost 90% of our recurring clients, who were primarily businesses. From there we started hand-delivering plants with personal notes all over Portland. We wanted to bring joy to people and somehow stay afloat! From there we got into so many homes organically, our residential client number shot up, and over time we got back into businesses as things settled down. We now have more clients than ever, and a large majority of them are residential!
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
When it comes to indoor plants, we do it ALL! We are basically interior designers, but with plants! We bring creativity, expertise, skill, and so much plant knowledge, we make sure your home has the right plants in every space. We also help your current plants thrive!
We make custom moss walls, that are preserved moss and require zero care! They are creatively made, labors of love, and works of art. These are our favorite things to do!
Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
Find people in the community!! We love going out in different neighborhoods and getting to know local business owners and employees. We spend a day each week meeting people, giving out little plants, and sharing what we do! We meet so many amazing people that we can work together with.
