Today we’d like to introduce you to Jacqueline Madera Silva.
Hi Jacqueline, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
As a first-generation Mexican American, I grew up watching my family work hard and create opportunities for themselves, and that really shaped the way I view hard work, independence, and chasing your dreams.
Beauty has always been something I genuinely loved. I’ve always enjoyed making people feel confident, beautiful, and comfortable in their own skin, and eventually I realized I wanted to create a space where I could do exactly that while building something of my own.
That’s how Jackies Beauty Bar began. What started as an idea and a dream slowly became a real business. I started with the services I was passionate about and continued learning, growing, and figuring things out along the way. Today, my focus is primarily on waxing, lash lifts, and brow services, but the heart behind my business has always stayed the same: creating a welcoming space where women can come in, feel comfortable, and leave feeling a little more confident than when they walked in. A lot of my inspiration comes from my own experiences, my family, and the women around me. Jackies Beauty Bar is still growing, and I’m still learning every day, but I’m really proud of how far this little dream has come. For me, it’s about more than beauty services—it’s about creating something that is mine, making people feel good about themselves, and hopefully inspiring other women to believe that they can build something of their own, too.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Starting a business meant learning so many things that I had never been taught before—from building my clientele and learning how to market myself, to figuring out the business side of things and having the confidence to put myself and my work out there.
One of the biggest challenges has been learning not to compare my journey to anyone else’s. There have been slow days, moments of self-doubt, and times when I questioned whether I was doing enough or if my business was growing. I think there’s something very meaningful about creating a path for yourself when you don’t necessarily have a blueprint to follow.
Those challenges have shaped me just as much as the successes have. They’ve taught me to be patient with myself, keep learning, and trust the process. Every client, every mistake, every slow season, and every little milestone has helped me become a better business owner and a more confident version of myself.
We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
being independent is a risk in its self !
I’m still figuring things out, but I’ve learned that you don’t have to have everything perfectly planned before you start. Sometimes you just have to believe in yourself enough to take the first step.
