Conversations with Thurman Willis

Today we’d like to introduce you to Thurman Willis.

Thurman Willis

Hi Thurman, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’ve been involved in music since childhood in St. Louis, MO. Music has always been apart of my life no matter where life has taken me. I started to take music seriously in the summer of 2020, while moving to Las Vegas where I started producing & recording multiple artist full time. From there, I have built long term relationships with multiple artist & have released multiple singles & projects along the way. I plan to continue growing in music to one day be a household name & inspiration to others.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
This journey has definitely been bumpy for sure. Like most things, it takes time to develop skills, connections, and a product others will like & want to invest in. It takes a lot of courage and risk to be successful. It was a struggle to get things just right in a recording session for example, I have to be quick in my decisions and keep sessions going without slowing down. One wrong move can make or break it, & can cost you in the long run. I would also say confidence was a struggle because when getting negative feedback I became hesitant, but working through that helped me in many situations. Keeping in mind that staying consistent with what you want will get you farther than you could ever imagine

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m a recording engineer & beat maker. I specialize in Hip Hop, Trap & R&B. I’m most proud of the first album I put out with an artist that I’ve been working with for years, this particular album helped attract a bigger audience. With this I was able to showcase my talents by producing, recording & mixing all one project. What I believe sets me apart from most is that I like to be involved in every part of the process whether its recording vocals, making the beat, finding the artist, creating a new sound, even down to video concepts to bring the vision to life.

In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
In the next 5-10 years I see myself having a bigger clientele of artist, bigger collaborations & my music on more platforms. I ultimately want to create a community where new & current artist & producers can collaborate together & be creative & free as possible.
