Daily Inspiration: Meet Anastasia Corya

Today we’d like to introduce you to Anastasia Corya.

Hi Anastasia , so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I moved to Portland, Oregon 1n 1987 to go to the University of Portland. I had my first child,Gabriella Corya-Pace in 1993.
Wanting to have more time with my daughter, job security and command over my schedule, My partner and I decided to open the Delta Cafe 4607 SE woodstock in Portland Oregon. I left college and started a successful restuarant that brought community, creativity and freedom into my young life. we opened 5/5/1995. we sold it in 2008. My partner and I had a second child Olive in 1996. It was incredibly fulfilling to have such a full life but the restaurant and all of its stresses took a toll on our relationship. We both started over. He bought a food cart and made southern fare and BBQ. I opened a second Miss Delta on Mississppi and ran that for 4 years before selling. That restaurant lost alot of money, most of my accumulated wealth but taught me alot about financial risk and investment. After that in 2012 My Friend Judith Rosenbaum and I masterminded a travel trailer hotel in Seaview Washington called the SouWester. We imagined, then created this community based travel experience and I was hooked. I realized how much I love design and hospitality to my core. I love building community and high value environments for my community. in 2018 My friend Jennifer Neitzel and I opened the Starry night Inn. We have slowly developed it into a sanctuary for artists
and modern travelors. We have a unique private spa with outdoor soaking tubs and we try to create a nurturing environment for our guests. (thestarrynightinn.com) We are in our 8th year and we are starting to feel like a thriving Company. I bought jen out in 2025 so she could pursue her education. We also Started managing another 4 unit airbnb located across the street (Seaglass) which helped a lot to expand our business and our capacity. We have 11 rooms now. I hope this isnt too much information. Living life as a female creative within capitalism is tricky. LOL . Thanks for your interest, An

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I have had many twists and turns in my life and my career as I follow my heart and not always my mind.
Over the years, I have gained enough experience to handle my business and am working on the Life balance
now. I tend to put in my all and work way too hard. It doesnt feel lke work so much but taking time for myself is
sadly a challenge that I am now accutely aware of. Maybe those ocean vibes are slowing me down in the best way.
I just want to make art, food and delicious cocktails..Thats my takeaway from all these experiences

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I have a very bohemian approach to hospitality. I love world travelors, artists, makers and shakers.
I try to build the natural environments of the artisan communities. The boutique hotel experience is always unique
and personal. The devils in the detail. We are curated and magical with a tendency towards health and self exploration.

Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
I dont really believe in luck as much as obtacles verses smooth sailing. I know to expect obstacles now and not feel like god was punishing me everytime something goes wrong. Buddha is more appropriate for those times. The conditions are not thinking about you at all, you just keep moving forward.
