Today we’d like to introduce you to Audrey Grace.
Hi Audrey, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’ve loved photography for as long as I can remember, but the reason I became a photographer goes a little deeper than just enjoying taking pictures.
Growing up, my parents didn’t like having their photos taken, so there are very few photos of our family together. As I got older, I realized how much those missing memories meant to me. It taught me just how valuable photographs become over time.
That realization sparked a passion for preserving memories for other people.
Over the years, I invested in photography education, practiced constantly, and eventually decided to turn my passion into a business. Today, I photograph weddings, elopements, engagements, and concert performances throughout the Pacific Northwest.
One of the coolest parts of this journey has been working alongside my husband, Jason, who often joins me as a second shooter and videographer. Together, we get to document some of life’s biggest moments while helping people feel comfortable, celebrated, and truly seen.
What started as a love for photography has grown into something much bigger. It’s become a way to help people hold onto the moments that matter most.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Definitely not! Haha. Like most small business owners, I’ve had my share of challenges along the way.
One of the biggest surprises was learning that photography is only part of the job. Taking photos is the fun part, but running a business also means handling marketing, client communication, contracts, editing, bookkeeping, website updates, and so much more.
I’m also naturally an introvert, so putting myself out there and building a business around personal connections pushed me outside my comfort zone. Over time, though, I realized that people weren’t looking for perfection. They were looking for someone they could trust.
There were plenty of moments where I questioned myself, compared my work to others, or wondered if I was doing enough. I think most creatives experience that at some point.
Looking back, those challenges helped me grow the most. They taught me confidence, resilience, and the importance of staying focused on serving my clients rather than comparing myself to everyone else.
The road definitely hasn’t been perfect, but every challenge has helped shape the photographer and business owner I am today.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m a photographer based in Central Oregon, and I primarily photograph weddings, elopements, engagements, and concert performances for local orchestras.
At the heart of everything I do is storytelling. Whether it’s a couple celebrating one of the biggest days of their lives or musicians sharing their passion on stage, I love capturing moments that people can look back on and relive years later.
If there’s one thing I’m known for, I hope it’s helping people feel comfortable in front of my camera. Most of my couples tell me they’re awkward or nervous before their session, and by the end they’re laughing, having fun, and realizing being photographed isn’t so scary after all. Seeing that transformation is one of my favorite parts of the job.
What I’m most proud of isn’t a specific photo or accomplishment; it’s the relationships I’ve built with my clients. The fact that people trust me with some of the most important moments in their lives is something I never take for granted.
What sets me apart is probably the reason I started photography in the first place. Growing up, there were very few photos of my family together, and that taught me how valuable photographs really are. Because of that, I approach every wedding, session, and performance knowing these images may become some of the memories people treasure most.
I also have the privilege of working alongside my husband, Jason, who often joins me as a second shooter and videographer. Together, our goal is simple: help people feel comfortable, have fun, and create photographs they’ll love for years to come.
Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
If I had to choose one thing, I would say genuinely caring about people.
Photography is about so much more than taking beautiful pictures. My clients are inviting me into some of the most important moments of their lives, and I never take that responsibility lightly.
I want my couples to feel comfortable, supported, and cared for from the moment they inquire all the way through receiving their final gallery. I think people can tell when you truly care about their experience, not just the end product.
Of course, hard work, education, and creativity are all important, but I believe relationships are what make the biggest difference. Some of my favorite moments are when couples tell me they felt like they were spending time with a friend rather than being photographed.
I also wouldn’t be where I am today without the support of my family and my husband. Starting and growing a business comes with its challenges, and having people who encourage me, believe in me, and support my dreams has made all the difference. I’m incredibly grateful for the role they’ve played in helping me get to where I am today.
At the end of the day, cameras and technology will continue to change, but making people feel seen, valued, and comfortable will never go out of style. I think that’s been one of the biggest contributors to my success and one of the things I value most about this work.
