Hi Emily , thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My love for photography started at a young age. I’ve always had a passion for taking photos, especially editorial and fashion magazine-style photography. As a little girl, I was inspired by pop culture and fashion, and that inspiration grew into a desire to create images that told a story. I didn’t just want to take pictures—I wanted to ask myself, “How can I make this look like a real magazine cover?”
When I went off to college, I took my first photography class and held my first real camera. I borrowed one from the school and treated it like it was priceless. I started by photographing nature, then my best friend, and eventually realized something important: I loved photographing people the most. More than anything, I loved telling stories through images.
After about four months of using the borrowed camera, I knew photography was something I wanted to invest in. Buying my own camera was such an exciting moment. I finally had the opportunity to turn my passion and creativity into something real—to create images that felt like magic.
One of my favorite parts of photography is getting to meet and connect with new people. I’ve always loved interacting and socializing, so every photoshoot is more than just taking pictures—it’s about creating an experience and making someone feel comfortable in front of the camera.
That’s where it all began. I picked up my camera and started shooting. I didn’t know exactly where to start, but thankfully my best friend was always willing to step in front of the lens. Those early sessions gave me the confidence to keep learning, experimenting, and growing.
Today, I still consider myself to be at the beginning of my journey. Photography is a craft that takes time, patience, and constant practice, and I’m committed to improving every step of the way. What motivates me most is seeing someone’s reaction when they receive their gallery. Knowing they feel confident, beautiful, and truly seen through my work is the greatest reward.
The best feeling in the world is watching someone proudly share their photos, tag me, and tell me how much they love them. Moments like that remind me exactly why I fell in love with photography in the first place—and why I can’t wait to keep telling stories, one photo at a time.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I would definitely say it hasn’t been a smooth road. There have been plenty of moments where I felt unmotivated because of the challenges I faced. Self-doubt, a lack of confidence, and even a lack of drive were thoughts that often crossed my mind. I found myself wondering why I should keep going when there are so many talented photographers out there.
For a long time, I struggled to figure out what made my work stand out. It often felt like I was constantly competing for people’s attention in such a crowded industry. There were days when I questioned whether all the hard work was worth it. But no matter how difficult those moments were, I never let those thoughts define me or stop me from moving forward.
Whenever I start to doubt myself, I try to focus on what truly matters—the impact my photographs have on the people I capture. I remind myself of how far I’ve come, the progress I’ve made, and the ways I can continue to grow. At the end of the day, there will always be someone with more experience, and that’s okay. Their success doesn’t take away from my own journey or my ability to keep learning.
My passion for photography has always been stronger than my fears. Creating images that make people feel confident, seen, and valued is what keeps me going. Photography genuinely brings me joy and fulfillment, and knowing that my work can leave a lasting impact on someone else is what makes every challenge worth overcoming.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
My name is Emily Eilers, and I’m the photographer behind Emily’s Exhibition, also known as @emilys.exhibition._ on Instagram. I specialize in couples, portraits, editorial, and family photography, but if I’m being honest, I love photographing just about everything.
When I first started my business, I found it difficult to choose just one niche. The more I explored photography, the more I realized I didn’t want to limit myself to a single category. Every photoshoot tells a different story, and I enjoy the creativity that comes with capturing a wide variety of moments and people. Rather than being known for one specific style, I want my work to reflect my passion for storytelling in all its forms.
Some of the work I’m most proud of includes my recent couples and family sessions. I spent countless hours perfecting the edits, creating the warm, golden-hour aesthetic that I love. Seeing those final images come together reminded me why I’m so passionate about what I do.
What sets me apart is my fresh perspective and my ability to personalize every session. No two clients are the same, and I believe their photos shouldn’t be either. My goal is to create images that feel authentic to each person while bringing their vision to life. I also enjoy helping clients feel comfortable by directing natural poses and incorporating a modern, Gen Z-inspired approach that feels genuine, stylish, and fun.
Above all, I want every client to walk away with photos that make them feel confident, seen, and excited to share their story.

When it comes to working with others, collaborating, and building meaningful connections, there is nothing I enjoy more. Collaborating with fellow photographers and creatives has been one of the most rewarding parts of my journey. Not only does it give me the opportunity to create alongside talented people, but it also allows me to learn new techniques, gain fresh perspectives, and grow both personally and professionally.
One of the things I value most about the photography community is the support we can give one another. Receiving encouragement from other photographers has meant so much to me, especially during moments of self-doubt, and it reminds me how important it is to uplift others as well. I believe there is room for everyone to succeed, and I genuinely enjoy celebrating the accomplishments of fellow creatives.
I always strive to show love, encouragement, and support to other photographers because I want them to know I appreciate the passion, talent, and creativity they bring to our community. Photography isn’t just about creating beautiful images, its about building relationships, inspiring one another, and growing together.
