Today we’d like to introduce you to Makayla Gorsage.
Hi Makayla, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My passion for hair and makeup sparked young, I believe subconsciously because my mom was a hairdresser growing up, so I spent many a days in a salon and around the beauty space. My grandmother even had a room-sized closet with a makeup desk I’d spend hours at, testing each and every product. Throughout middle school and high school is when the “beauty guru” idea was coined and people were starting to go viral on Youtube for their makeup videos – this is were I started to become truly obsessed with makeup! And from there on I was always buying the newest/coolest product.. and always the girl wanting to do everybody’s hair/makeup, too – for prom, homecoming, during 3rd period (lol), even just a random Tuesday! When I got out of high school I decided it was something I wanted to take a bit more seriously, so started out by working as an assistant to lead bridal artists/bridal companies in the area. I’d get to work on mainly bridesmaids to gain more experience and build a solid portfolio. After a few years, I officially went on to beauty school and got my Esthetician’s license, and then started my Bridal Beauty Business -MG Beauty. It’s been about 8 years of working on clients, and about 3 years of owning my own bridal company. I now solely take my own brides + even have a small “team” of other independent artists who come assist with me on weddings now!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It’s been a pretty smooth road, for the most part, but there’s of course some business ups and downs that just come with running a business! Like figuring out how to file taxes, and properly track my expenses. It’s been a huuuuge learning experience and I feel like I keep learning more and more as I go on – better ways to bookkeep, make my client experience better, make myself a better artist, etc. I feel like there’s always going to be things to learn, and ways to improve and grow when running a company. Aside from regular business struggles – here in the PNW, we tend to have a “slower season” in my line of work – not nearly as many people are getting married here Nov-Mar, so filling time and the calendar can feel challenging during this time.

I specialize in timeless, natural hair and makeup looks that are both beautiful on camera and in person. Ensuring brides look and feel like themselves on their big day, just the most elevated version! Usually this is soft, and classic makeup styling that doesn’t feel too trendy.
