Today we’d like to introduce you to Nelli Sudbrock.
Hi Nelli, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started shooting on film and using a darkroom in 7th grade in White Salmon, WA. I continued to study at community colleges in the Dalles and Vancouver, WA before finishing at EOU in La Grande. I took many family photos, seniors and weddings on a film camera without an auto focus lens before I moved to digital in 2005. I have moved through 7 digital bodies since then. Currently I am shooting on a canon R6 mark 2. I recently started more traveling sessions with weddings ranging from Seattle to Spokane. I have also started adding adventure sessions for backpacking trips.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It was hard to run a small business while raising three children. I never used daycare had day care and oftentimes stayed up editing photos until 2 a.m. after long days of taking care of small kids and shooting. I have continued to shoot during graduate school and after graduating with a master’s in counseling. I am excited to continue to have my creative outlet with photography while continuing to support my community in mental health services.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I love capturing real emotions and creating artistic images with clients to help them feel positive about the way they look.
What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
Staying on top of new camera gear is always part of the ever changing digital landscape.
