Today we’d like to introduce you to Seri Lopez.
Hi Seri, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I have had a love of baking and cooking since I was young. Starting with my Suzie Bake Oven, through High School with Home Economics and then alongside my full-time positions working in the executive world of education and environmental engineering, I decided to become a Pampered Chef Consultant and Director going into people’s homes cooking for them and selling kitchen tools. I love people and engaging with them and one day I took a cake decorating class and saw that I had talent, I could make sugar flowers, pearls, and pipe like nobody’s business. Through sharing my homework (cakes created for classes) orders started to come in and through my Husband’s encouragement I started my wedding cake and custom cake business and quit working for others. Wow what a joy it’s been.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
There are always obstacles and challenges in Life. I have found that working in my business has strengthened me as a person and my life and dependence on the Lord for all of my work that comes my way. It has brought me more faith. It taught me to prioritize work, and of course challenges in the moment. I have stories during cake competitions, travel and deadlines, but that is for another time. With each project there are successes and learning. My goal is to do the best job I can and create a piece of edible art for the client to make their celebration the happiest experience possible.

Seriouscake.com, LLC is a by appointment only award winning in-home licensed kitchen/bakery. I have been in business for 20 plus years. I specialize in Wedding Cakes, custom cakes, 3D sculpted cakes, sugar and chocolate work. All my cakes, cookies, cupcakes and treats are baked to order. I am certified sugar artist, I am a teacher and my work is published in several magazines teaching different levels of baking and sugar skills. I am a competitor in the sugar world and have just recently been awarded the Lux Life Magazine Best Wedding Cake Designer 2026 (Pacific Northwest USA). I have had the honor to compete on Food Network and in international Wedding Cake Competitions. I love what I do, whether it be a simple birthday cake to intricate competition design I am passionate about each project.
Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
No luck here, simply hard work, and dedication over the years. Lots of grace and working my business every day has made it successful. I do enjoy taking Sundays off for rest and reflection with my Husband and my fur family. Being an artist and finding creative inspiration through art and in daily life is very inspiring. This gift I have been given is truly from the Lord, this gift of sugar and baking for such a time as this and I will continue until He says it is finished. What a Blessing!
