Little Medicine Ranch Obstetrics is, at its heart, a family affair. The practice was founded in 2026 by Dr. Aleksander Robles, MD, FACOG, inspired and guided by the vision of his wife, partner, and clinic manager, Mehama Robles, RN. A Central Oregon native and seasoned nurse, Mehama envisioned a practice that returned to the true essence of medicine: deeply personal, unhurried, and exceptionally tailored care.
Together, they designed Little Medicine Ranch to be a sanctuary for women seeking a higher standard of private, high-end obstetric excellence in the high desert.
Dr. Robles’s journey to providing concierge medical care in Bend is backed by over a decade of diverse, high-caliber clinical experience. After completing his residency in 2015, he began his career as an active-duty officer in the United States Air Force. Caring for Airmen, veterans, and their families, he became comfortable and confident in the independent practice of Obstetrics and Gynecology. He left the service as a Major with numerous commendations.
Upon separating from the military, Dr. Robles brought his expertise home to Bend, serving as an OB Hospitalist at St. Charles Medical Center. In this high-stakes role, he was solely responsible for managing high-risk pregnancy transfers from across the entire Central Oregon region. This period solidified his reputation for clinical precision and calm leadership under pressure. Following this, he briefly brought his specialized skills to a local private practice alongside Dr. Murphy.
It was during this chapter in Bend that Aleksander met Mehama, a beloved fixture in the local community who worked throughout Central Oregon as a dedicated home health nurse. Recognizing a shared passion for patient-centric care—and sharing a deep mutual love for the American West—they temporarily relocated to the rugged northwestern corner of Montana.
In Montana, Dr. Robles stepped into the role of a solo practitioner at a Critical Access hospital. It was a transformative experience. For the first time, he was able to walk alongside every patient from their very first ultrasound, through the milestone of delivery, and deep into the postpartum period. This immersive, continuous care model—in contrast to the rushed, impersonal nature of some large medical groups—redefined his philosophy of medicine.
During this time, Dr. Robles also began deep-diving into holistic women’s health through the Institute of Functional Medicine (IFM). The unique independence of his practice allowed him to seamlessly weave evidence-based functional medicine into traditional obstetrics, addressing the root causes of health and prenatal wellness rather than just treating symptoms.
When life inevitably called them back home to Bend, they knew they couldn’t return to ordinary, corporate medicine. Dr. Robles had discovered a profoundly rewarding way to practice, and his patients had experienced the luxury of true, undivided medical attention.
Because no existing medical group in Central Oregon offered this level of personalized, holistic care, Dr. and Mrs. Robles decided to build it themselves.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Opening the clinic has had its challenges. Any new business requires a leap of faith, and that is scary at times, but ultimately we believe that we have something really special to offer, and that keeps the struggles feeling less insurmountable.

In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
In the next 5-10 years we see our industry continuing on strong. Women have babies, and we are hoping to serve the community far into the future. As far as shifts and trends go, we feel that our model of being able to slow down and offer more holistic and functional approaches to maternal care will grow too.
