Today we’d like to introduce you to Daniel Centeno.
Hi Daniel , please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
This business started with most of the work coming from word-of-mouth referrals for my father. He worked for a construction company for close to 25 years, and along the way he started taking on side work here and there. I would always hear that the quality of his work was some of the best people had seen — but it still wasn’t enough to leave his job. I had originally planned on taking the traditional route and going to college, and I did for about six months. Once I started working on setting up the business and getting our CCB license, I realized how much potential his work had if more people simply knew about it. So I decided to learn how to make that happen. As I learned, I’d put more and more of it into practice, and slowly more work and new opportunities started coming in. That led to my father finally being able to leave his job last summer and focus fully on our father-and-son, family-owned business, Pro Pacific Drywall. Since then, we’ve kept finding ways to serve more people in Southern Oregon while always looking to improve our customer service, the quality of our work, and the overall experience our clients have with us.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has not been a smooth road. Most of what I’ve done up to this point has been new to me. I had never worked in construction until my father and I started this. But his experience, combined with me doing the work hands-on, has allowed me to learn faster. Aside from the actual service we provide, everything else I’ve had to learn myself — from figuring out ways to grow our business to the smaller things like bookkeeping. I started this with my father when I was 19, so I learn something new every day. Another challenge as a small, family-owned business is competing with companies that have been around longer. They have more resources and dedicated sales teams, which gives them an advantage. But we’ll keep proving our value through the high quality of our work at affordable prices. One of the things I have learned is that It’s easy to read or listen to something, but executing is hard.
We’ve been impressed with Pro Pacific Drywall, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Pro Pacific Drywall is a family-owned business providing residential and commercial drywall services throughout Southern Oregon, all the way to the Oregon coast. We do anything drywall-related from start to finish, including installation, repair, taping, mudding, and texturing. What sets us apart is that when customers call Pro Pacific, they deal directly with the owners, which allows us to maintain a high quality of work on every job. Drywall tends to make a mess, whether from the dust or the scrap of the cut sheets. We make sure to minimize the mess at each job site and properly clean up after ourselves so we leave it better than we found it. We make it a policy to treat people with appreciation, courtesy, and respect in all circumstances. We do the right thing even when nobody is looking, because we value your project as if you were part of our family. What I’m most proud of, brand-wise, is that my father already has a great reputation here in the Rogue Valley, and Pro Pacific is growing into that same reputation. Ultimately, I’d like your readers to know that we strive each day to improve and grow so we can keep providing the best affordable service on every job. Drywall is one of the most transformative parts of any space — it’s what starts to make a home or building feel like a real, usable area. We’ll continue to make every space we work on strong, reliable, and built to last.
We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
Something surprising that most people might not know about me is that Pro Pacific Drywall isn’t something I had originally planned on starting. It began with me simply helping my father, then deciding to go all in — and now it’s something I think about every day. Whether it’s how we can do something better, how I can get past an obstacle, or figuring out the things I didn’t even know were part of this journey. As long as I’m given the opportunity to work each day, I’ll continue to push for Pro Pacific drywall to be the best.
