Exploring Life & Business with Hallie Goulet of Thrive and Transform Coaching

Today we’d like to introduce you to Hallie Goulet.

Hi Hallie, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Growing up in a health-conscious, vegetarian household taught me the value of nutrition, but it also came with an underlying message of restriction. I spent years believing confidence came from eating less, exercising more, and making myself smaller. Instead, I found myself constantly thinking about food, stuck in cycles of under-eating during the day and overeating at night, moving further away from the way I wanted to feel.

Everything changed when I hired my first nutrition coach in my late 20s. For the first time, I had a plan, support, and the freedom that comes from trusting my body instead of fighting it. A few years after completing my Bachelor’s in Exercise Science, I started personal training and teaching group fitness classes because I found a sense of belonging in the fitness community that I never had growing up. That evolved into online coaching with a greater emphasis on nutrition, mindset and lifestyle after gradually realizing that I wanted to make a larger impact on my client’s lives than I could in one hour on the gym floor.

I’ve seen how nutrition and fitness can become catalysts for my client’s to build a greater sense of self; show up better for their families, work and community; and explore what they’re truly capable of. I primarily coach men and women between 30-55 who want to regain their fitness and be proud of their bodies. Due to my husband being a professional triathlete and endurance coach, I’ve also had the pleasure of coaching endurance athletes training for triathlons, marathons, and cycling events. Throughout my journey, I’ve learned that confidence comes from self-respect, not the number on a scale, and I’m passionate about helping others build that same relationship with food, fitness, and themselves.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Growth of any kind is never smooth! In order to evolve, it requires getting uncomfortable, taking risks and learning from whatever obstacles come up.

Starting and growing a business wasn’t something I foresaw until I found myself in a position where I knew clients deserved better coaching and I wanted to contribute higher standards to the coaching industry. Ashley and I have been clear from day 1 what we wanted Thrive and Transform to look like, our core values and our coaching philosophy. We’ve both learned skills as business owners that were new to us but it’s allowed us to build operating systems and processes that help our clients get the best experience and individualized coaching. From learning backend systems, new apps, payment processing, marketing and content creation, we’ve learned how to be both coaches and business owners.

As you know, we’re big fans of Thrive and Transform Coaching. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Thrive and Transform Coaching is a 1:1 nutrition coaching company that helps people improve their health, body composition, relationship with food and overall lifestyle. We specialize in mindset and behavior change which essentially means we support our clients building the skills to take care of their health and wellbeing for the long term. Rather than a quick fix, restrictive diet approach, we build an approach WITH our clients so it’s specific to their lives, their goals and making changes sustainably. We meet our clients where they’re at and work collaboratively so they build autonomy, knowledge and confidence throughout coaching and beyond. Majority of our clients come to coaching wanting to improve body composition while simultaneously improving their food behaviors and relationship with food. This means addressing emotional eating, stress regulation, mindfulness, all-or-nothing patterns and narratives that have kept them stuck. Our clients work with us on average 9-12+ months, receiving 1:1 nutrition guidance and support as well as access to our client community so they know they’re not alone.

What are your plans for the future?
We’re excited to continue to grow our client base and further connect with the communities around us. We want to ensure we’re providing the best quality service we can so we’ll continue to seek mentorship and continuing education to better support our clients.
