Today we’d like to introduce you to Jonathan Williams.
Jonathan, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I grew up in Raleigh, North Carolina and always had a love for animals. My family was never without a dog and/or cat as pets were always seen as a part of the family. I graduated from North Carolina State University with a degree in Zoology knowing that I wanted to become a veterinarian. I was accepted into veterinary school at Western University of Health Sciences in Pomona, California. Other than my interview for vet school, this was the farthest from home that I had been on my own and it was definitely a culture shock. I loved my time there and am very grateful for the education I received and the friends I made. It was also there that I met the other owner of our clinic. We graduated in 2008 and went right into practice. A year was spent working at a practice in San Jose, then three years in McMinnville. In 2013 we made the move to Eugene and purchased Four Corners Veterinary Clinic. Four Corners was already an established practice in Eugene, originally opening in the 1960’s. The clinic at that time consisted of two exam rooms, two doctors, and a small number of staff. Through years of hard work and the desire to provide quality medicine with a close knit, family feel, we have expanded the practice to include 5 doctors and close to 20 staff members. We moved to our current location in September 2022, increasing to seven exam rooms and giving us more space for better diagnostic and treatment capabilities. Being privately owned allows us to maintain our small feel and maintain our personal relationships with our clients and patients. I attribute the growth and success of our clinic to the teamwork between me, our other owner, and all of our staff members who really do feel like family. Our focus has, and will always be, to improve the quality of life through the human animal bond by providing excellent care for family pets.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
There are always struggles both personally and professionally. Early on, before we moved to our current location, space was a big issue. The clinic was growing faster than the space would allow. Now that we are in a larger space, it is much easier for all of us to function. Compassion fatigue and burnout are very big issues in veterinary medicine. All of us in the industry deal with difficult situations on a regular basis often due to the fact that we can’t provide the level of care that an animal needs or deserves. Here at Four Corners Veterinary Clinic we believe maintaining a good quality of life for our employees is essential to a successful and enjoyable workplace. All of our employees deserve to be recognized for the work that they do.
We’ve been impressed with Four Corners Veterinary Clinic, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
We are a full service veterinary clinic providing various services for many species. Some of our services include wellness care, dentistry, surgery, chiropractic, laser therapy, and chronic disease management. We mainly treat dogs and cats but will also see pocket pets such as rabbits, ferrets, guinea pigs, and rats. Our purpose is to improve the quality of life through the human animal bond while providing quality primary care for pets at a competitive price. Our core values are fun, accountability, communication, education, and teamwork. Everything we do is based around these core values. Some things that set us apart are being locally owned (not corporate), competitively priced, and we focus on doing primary care well. We believe that if primary care is done well, health issues will be less frequent and pets will be happier for longer. Our chiropractic service also makes us more unique as well as the ability to perform an advanced procedure for ACL rupture in dogs called MMP. As far as brands and products that we carry, we only carry and recommend products that we believe in and we know work the best. This is done through education and research which demonstrates the effectiveness of a product. Another aspect is our Wellness Plans. Our wellness plans are designed to provide the care that we would perform on our own personal animals to ensure that they live their best life possible. They often make their medical care much more affordable and less worrisome.

We prefer to include pet owners in the decision making for their pets. We value a collaborative experience with our clients and strive to educate them so that they understand why we recommend what we do. We want people to know that we want the best for their pets and only have their health in mind.
