Exploring Life & Business with Krystal Stelle of The Bloom Room

Today we’d like to introduce you to Krystal Stelle.

Hi Krystal, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
The path to esthetics and starting my own business was a windy one, but every step brought me right to where I am meant to be today. Figuring it out along the way had been both exciting and nerve-wracking!
I moved to Oahu at the age of 21 to study nutrition. I quickly fell in love with island life—the culture, surfing, meeting amazing people, and working a variety of jobs across hospitality, sunglass retail, and local coffee shops. While I knew those jobs weren’t my long-term career, they became invaluable stepping stones in teaching me connection, service, and the direction I truly wanted to step into.
I always had the passion to start my own business and be my own boss. I just was never clear on what that would look like exactly. Inspired by both my parents as entrepreneurs growing up. Then as I was approaching 30 years old I begin noticing my skin evolve from years under the Hawaii sun. It sparked a deep interest in skincare and the aging process and my good friends on island were getting monthly facials at the time. That’s when I went to get my second-ever facial after turning to some much needed self-care time and inspiration from friends. In that room, a lightbulb went off—I fell in love with the experience and instantly knew this was my calling.
I soon enrolled in esthetics school in Honolulu, commuting over an hour each way from the North Shore. It was pure dedication and heart.

The Bloom Room was quickly born once I finished school and before I even passed my state boards. Inspired by visualizing something purposeful for my life and not waiting on anyone else’s timeline but my own.
I started small, converting a spare bedroom in our home and investing in equipment while practicing on supportive friends and family. Finding a dedicated studio space was a challenge, but divine timing intervened when my friend Marisa offered a beautiful open-air bungalow on her property. Surrounded by banana trees, warm breezes, and tropical birds. The Bloom Room blossomed for five incredible years on Oahu with all the encouragement and support of my husband, family, friends and my growing clientele.
In the spring of 2024, my family and I made the heart-wrenching decision to leave Hawaii with our 18-month-old son and relocate to Bend, Oregon. Leaving behind the business I had built from the ground up was devastating, but I was determined to bring my passion to Central Oregon as quickly as humanly possible.
After months of searching for the perfect location, serendipity struck again. A series of connected events led me to an available shared studio space overlooking the Deschutes River. The view, the energy, and the soothing sound of the water flowing below made it instantly feel like I was home.
The Bloom Room has been flourishing here in Bend, and I am so deeply grateful to continue doing what I love. Sharing this beautiful sanctuary, helping clients achieve healthy, radiant skin, and connecting with both locals and visitors has been immensely healing and rewarding not only for the people I get to meet but for myself as well!

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The Realities of Entrepreneurship and owning a business are anything but a smooth ride. It requires a heavy dose of patience, grit, and an unwavering trust in yourself and what you bring to the table. For me, navigating the twists and turns of entrepreneurship has been a masterclass in resilience. Often times many people don’t get to see that side. They just see your success of where you are at now. But getting there is like the iceberg effect where the majority of the work is hidden beneath the surface.
One of my greatest tests was finding the right space. I had a very clear vision: my studio had to feel close to nature, flooded with natural light, and grounded in tranquility. It took immense patience not to settle for anything less than how I wanted it to make me feel. From an open-air bungalow surrounded by banana trees on Oahu to my current haven overlooking the Deschutes River in Bend, standing firm on that non-negotiable was worth every second of the wait.

I’d say another challenge was and still is building a clientele, it takes time—the first time around, it took five years of steady dedication while simultaneously planning a wedding and starting a family. When my son was born, my priorities naturally shifted. Learning to set firm boundaries around my time was a challenge, but finding that harmony allowed me to show up fully: 3.5 days dedicated passionately to my clients, and the rest of the week dedicated to raising my son.

Rebuilding Across the Ocean and
leaving my established practice and saying goodbye to clients I had built relationships with over five years on Oahu was heartbreaking. Moving to Bend meant starting over from scratch. But the warmth of this community—and the incredible gift of Oahu clients coming to visit me in Oregon—reminds me that connection transcends geography. Word of mouth is slowly lighting up here in Central Oregon over the past few years, and I couldn’t be more grateful.

I can’t forget to mention my most personal challenge has been navigating my own skin health struggles—undergoing Mohs surgery for skin cancer multiple times and managing severe eczema—all while working as an esthetician. Sitting across from a client when your own skin is flaring or recovering isn’t glamorous, and it can test your confidence and how I show up. But it also humbled me. It reminded me that skin care isn’t about unattainable perfection; it’s about healing, grace, and honoring the body we live in. My own journey gave me a far deeper perspective and a level of empathy that shapes every single treatment I offer in The Bloom Room. I believe what stands in the way becomes the way 100%.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
At The Bloom Room, skincare is more than a surface-level fix—it is a journey of nourishment and connection. I believe your skin is a story to be understood, not a problem to be solved.

By honoring your skin as a living system, my hope is that you step out of the treatment room feeling more relaxed, grounded, and deeply connected to yourself than when you walked in.

In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
I feel like we are entering a powerful correction phase in the beauty industry. For years, the focus was on quick-fix procedures, aggressive actives, and cold, sterile clinical spaces. Over the next decade, I see a major pivot toward Integrative Skin Health and Nature-Centered Wellness.
Consumers are getting smarter—we are actually reading ingredient list and moving past marketing hype and calling out complex, damaging routines. The future is truly about ‘skinimalism’ and systemic care. We want transparency and trust in the products and brands we are purchasing from. Trading 10-step routines for barrier-supportive, high-quality products, while shifting our mindset from ‘fast beauty’ to long-term skin longevity.
As estheticians, our role is evolving from product appliers to true wellness partners. We are finally honoring the Skin-Gut-Brain axis, recognizing that gut health, stress, and nervous system regulation are what drive true, lasting radiance. Our skin communicates to us and we are finally listening.
The spaces where healing happens is equally as important. People are craving a move away from sterile environments and feeling a deep pull back to nature. Spaces designed with natural light, organic elements, and connection to the outdoors will become essential for therapeutic restoration.
Ultimately, the future belongs to high-touch, nature-grounded care. Combining barrier-supportive science with therapeutic human touch and a peaceful environment provides an experience that machines and AI simply cannot replicate.
