Today we’d like to introduce you to Suzanne Clark Cambray.
Hi Suzanne, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Like many people in Portland, my path into real estate wasn’t a straight line. It evolved over time through a combination of personal moves, professional experiences, and a growing interest in how people transition from one chapter of life to the next. I was drawn to the idea that a home isn’t just a transaction, t’s often tied to major life moments, whether that’s relocating, downsizing, or starting something new. I was born and raised in London, England and Portland has been my home for over 30 years.
Over the years, that perspective shaped how I approach my work. I found myself naturally gravitating toward clients who were navigating bigger transitions, especially those moving to or within Portland. Helping people not just find a home, but understand neighborhoods, timing, and what the process really looks like became the foundation of my business.
As my business grew, so did my vision for how I wanted to serve clients. That led to the creation of the MovingtoPDX Collective, a team built with intention around collaboration, communication, and a more seamless experience from start to finish. Rather than a traditional structure, we’ve focused on creating something that feels supportive, thoughtful, and aligned with how people actually want to move today.
Throughout it all, Portland has remained a constant source of inspiration. It’s a city made up of distinct neighborhoods, each with its own rhythm and character, and that’s something I love helping people navigate. Whether someone is new to the area or simply making a change within it, there’s always a story behind the move, and being part of that is what keeps the work meaningful.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
When I first moved to Portland I found the city too small compared to London however as I’ve grown and settled down, this city has grown bigger so it’s a perfect match now.
We’ve been impressed with MovingtoPDXcollective with Sotheby’s, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My business has really grown out of a deep interest in helping people navigate change. At its core, real estate is rarely just about buying or selling a home, it’s about transitions. Whether someone is relocating to Portland, downsizing, moving up, or simply ready for something new, there’s always a bigger story behind the move, and that’s what I’m most drawn to.
I work with buyers and sellers across the Portland metro area, including NE and SE Portland, Lake Oswego, and the West Hills. Over time, I’ve developed a niche in relocation, residential sales, and working with clients who want a more thoughtful, strategic approach. With more than 20 years in the Portland market, I’ve seen a lot of different cycles, which allows me to guide clients with a level of perspective and calm that I think is especially valuable in today’s environment.
What sets my work apart is how I approach both preparation and strategy. I’m very hands-on with my sellers, helping them understand which improvements will actually add value and which ones won’t. That comes not only from my experience as a broker, but also from being an investor myself and co-owning a residential construction company. It gives me a practical lens when evaluating homes, whether that’s preparing one for market or helping a buyer understand a property’s potential.
I also lead a boutique team at Cascade Hasson Sotheby’s International Realty, called the MovingtoPDX Collective. Building this team has been something I’m especially proud of. It was created intentionally to feel more collaborative and supportive, both for our clients and internally. Instead of a traditional structure, we’ve focused on creating a more seamless, personalized experience one where communication is clear, details are handled thoughtfully, and clients feel guided from start to finish.
A large part of my business comes from referrals, which I don’t take lightly. It’s a reflection of the relationships I’ve built over time and the level of care I try to bring to every interaction. At the end of the day, I want clients to feel informed, supported, and confident in their decisions no matter where they are in the process.
More than anything, I want people to know that real estate doesn’t have to feel overwhelming. With the right guidance and a clear plan, it can actually feel like a really positive and empowering experience and that’s what I aim to create for every client I work with.
We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
As an entrepreneur there is a constant need to take risks. I would say I am a modest risk taker requiring me to invest financially and with hiring talent. I have to keep my world big enough for my team members to want to stay in business with me. There are also many pivots required as the real estate market shifts for many different reasons therefore a constant thirst for education is required,
Pricing:
- Probably the most important
- Keep up with the market shifts
- Be familiar with the micro pockets within Portland

If you want, I can make this slightly shorter (they sometimes prefer tighter answers) or add a bit more personal origin story/emotion depending on the tone you want to strike.
